HTV Wales Wales Today
Itv regional weather has been all over the place for ages now. I guess its because most regions have 1 main presenter plus a weekend presenter that is shared between several regions e.g Emma Jesson does Granada/Yorkshire etc, so there is going to be a lot of times when cover is required. It seems any presenter can turn up to cover any other region as well as the national presenters occasionally covering. We also have Alex, Amanda and Manali covering the national forcasts.

In Wales we have had Kerrie Gosney, Jo Blythe, Amanda Houston, Aiden McGivern, Manali Luka, Alex Beresford, James Wright covering in recent times as well as the national presenters, usually Lucy or Becky.

We have yet to see Simon Parkin, Martin Stew, Ross Hutchinson, Jon Mitchell cover Wales to my knowledge and we havent seen Emma Jesson in years either.

Yorkshire Look North (Yorkshire)
Interestingly we haven't seen Ross Hutchinson on Yorkshire weather for months, since before this current set up of random cover started. He used to be 3rd choice appearing regularly before then. There was always a long history of Tyne Tees covering Yorkshire and vica versa, and never Granada, but it seems to have changed.

Sian hasn't indeed! The reason we've seen Amanda Houston and Manali Lukha given a partial promotion, doing the odd weekends. However I noticed Manali's job was posted via itv.com/jobs not long back so another new face could be seen.

Who is the lead national weather forecaster for ITV these days - Alex Beresford ?

You used to know where you were in the Martyn Davies era. I guess there isn't really a hierarchy any more.

I think you're right, it's just whoever's on duty that day. Then again, when it was just Martyn and Sian, I felt both presenters were treated equally.

I would think Lucy would be lead National forecaster, AIUI she is the only trained meteorologist out of the main four (along with Becky, Sian and Alex). She is also by far the most regular on screen presenter.
Saying that, I think Becky is by far the most polished presenter.

The last paragraph (as quoted) is very interesting...

Quote:
I will always remain grateful that I got the chance to work with talented professionals like Martyn Davies and Alex Hill. They taught me so much and inspired within me a lifelong love affair with the Highs and Lows of the British Weather. In this age of blatant lookism, they were totally themselves. They had no interest in polishing their egos, only in focusing on delivering the most accurate forecast possible. I especially love the fact that Alex Hill ignored the request of an ITV executive to shave off his beard and tone down his ''robust" Scottish accent.

ITV will never see their likes again.

As a compatriot of mine once sang: Those were the days my friends...
