In her early BBC NI days Christine developed a reputation among some crew I worked with but I'm glad to hear she's changed and is making the most of her talent, even tho I'm disappointed she's lost her accent slightly!

To answer noggin: Yes it's the same Christine Bleakley who worked as a floor manager. Though according to The One Show website "the former journalist has crossed the Irish Sea to bring her feisty personality to The One Show"... I never knew she was a journalist! However she did do in-vision announcing in the early days of BBC Choice NI.

As for Nick Harvey not understanding a word she says: ... may be it's a case of old ears/brain being a bit slow on the up take Wink ... or perhaps the lack of unadulterated Northern Irish accents on telly has left him without a proper education/understanding of the diversity of accents in the UK.

As for Gordon Burns: the man has been based in England for approx' 30 years, it's hardly surprising his accent isn't strong... though it is much stronger than News 24's Anita McVeigh who after only a couple of years sounds like she never set foot in NI.

Anyway, back to Christine... I wonder how much longer it's going to take before Adrian pronounces her surname correctly?

Ah yes Christina Bleak - ly (as in Bleak House)! For those outside Norn Iron / Adrian Chiles it's supposed to be pronounced Blake (rhymes with wake) -ly.

Has her having to go to London affected production of BBC NI shows? Was she not supposed to be going round with the province with John Daly finding places to talk about (basically something similar to what UTV are already doing?)

I would of thought that when Christine signed up for the show that she was told that she would be the main co-presenter when Myleene had her baby.

Will Myleene return towards the end of the run, or has she done plenty of pre-recorded packages so her profile is maintained on the show?

I've actually got quite used to watching "The ONE Show" now on DTT at 7pm.
(only while Sky+ is busy recording E4 and ITV1 - so I can miss out the adverts later)

It's not that bad. Can be quite funny, and if you are only half watching through either cooking, eating or cleaning up the house it is alright as entertainment.

That's with Joe Lindsay. It's amazing, since Christine has been away, the shots of people out and about at night pages in the papers and magazines have been Christine-less for once in about three years!

Quite a few sound problems on the show tonight, very high pitched mic feedback! Mad and echoing for quite a bit, all fixed now though hopefully!

Ruth Langsford got her big break in TV as one of the hands up Gus Honeybun's rear end - then made the transition to continuity announcer and, the best female one TSW had after Judi Spiers. What a pity she didn't stay local and I never thought she'd end up doing This Morning, the shadow of itself it is now. Why on earth didn't she marry Ian Stirling? Laughing

I thought "ee" was pronounced similar to "ay" in the Black Country, or is Adrian Chiles diluting his beloved West Midlands accent and selling out Wink

Anybody who complains about Northern Irish accents, should be sentenced to watching Eamonn Holmes on This Morning for the rest of the summer Wink

GILSTA....you have obviously never worked with Christine Bleakley. I have for many years and she couldn't be a nicer, more genuine and professional girl...you haven't got a clue who you are talking about

I totally agree, I've known Christine professionally for years and she's a great girl, totally down to earth, able to put any contributor at their ease, and about the least "starry" person you could meet. I don't know anyone with a bad word to say about her.
