Well it's back tonight and the regional news updates at 1925 will be back too.
The website has also been updated as well with some previews of what's coming up tonight, it's very circular, fitting in with the BBC one idents!

The logo's changed also, as the one before was used during the old BBC1 idents so they've had to update it to fit in with the new ones! Laughing

I am wondering if the regions will recieve an update this evening with the launch of the one show, looking at BBC London website it has also adopted a new look, which shows that there is a strong emphasis on the nations, and could be the new corporate identity.

I don't think there will be a network update at 6.55 as Natasha didn't mention the usual that she'll "be back with the headlines just before 7".
So I think there will be a National & International update done by the regions at 7.25 just like the last series! Smile

It says in the BBC One website, that BBC Regional News starts at 6:28pm & The One Show starts at 7pm, so really the 6 News is only 28 minutes & the Regional News is 32 minutes, but the One Show starts at 6:55pm - so Regional News is only really 27 minutes & they do the other three minutes (Weather & Headlines) at 7:25pm (with national headlines.) Then for Wednesday it says that Regional News starts at 6:30pm (which is pretty crazy.)

The point I'm making is that it should go like this:
6pm - 6:25pm : 6 O'Clock News
6:25pm - 6:55pm : BBC Regional News
6:55pm - 7:28pm : The One Show
7:28pm - 7:30pm : Natasha With National Headlines

OR
6pm - 6:25pm : 6 O'Clock News
6:25pm - 6:55pm : BBC Regional News
6:55pm - 6:57pm : Natasha With National Headlines
6:57pm - 7:30pm : The One Show

Then everyone is happy, because regionals get their half-hour bulletins, The One Show still gets nearly 35 minutes & there's still room for Natasha with the national headlines

its not a patch on the birmingham days is it. everything looked so much more laid back, precisely planned and executed back then.

This show seems so shoddy this year. Set looks great, but I could recreate it if I poped into my local Ikea.

The content is poor, and when in studio, moments are just cringeworthy. Crashes in the background, bad camera work. Its just not got what it had last year im afraid.

When the one show was recomissioned the BBC said it needed money spending 'on screen' so what happened?

The problem is that these days you can get away with poor production values such as the background noises and shoddy camera work previously mentioned. Producers think they can justify it by calling it 'live' edgy TV.

Television studios are built for a purpose. They are more or less sound proof, designed to be lit properly and in the case of the One show, are versatile enough to accomodate the needs of a daily magazine programme.

The BBC is supposed to be at the forefront of quality television production The One show has a long way to go.

To me, it's too like "This Morning" - particularly with the titles. The One Show should have a daytime slot - not a 7pm slot.

I also don't understand why just because The One Show is on they now have to ditch the national update. They're treating it as a separate show now anyway so why not act as normal?

I agree, there should be the national update. What's so special about The One Show, that the national update has to be ditched?

good riddence to it. the national update from London was absurd. Let the regions end their shows properly.

I'm surprised there's no video stream of previous shows on the website (which looks horribly out of place with the titles and jellybaby set).

I really don't think there is any need for the network update after the regional news done from London. Wouldn't it just be better to incorporate it into the end of the regional news like Scotland, Newsline & Wales do in their bulletins? Or even better continue with the national and international update done by the regions at 1925 like was done in the last series?

Oh no. There was just a premium rate competition.

The One Show has been showing a little bit of promise so far, but they really will have to lose that.

There was a similar competition on the Birmingham version of The One Show as well, and AIUI it was very popular with the audience. (It was a "Where am I?" quiz )

Like most BBC competitions the cost of entering is pretty low (15p from a normal BT landline) - and no profit can be made by the corporation from these calls.

They certainly took the phone thing seriously though - the graphic with the closing time, the age restriction and the call cost was up for quite a long time, and they made it very clear when lines had closed.

Nice to see BBC Norn Irn's very own Christine Blakeley up here in York doing a live OB for The One Show from a building site

Makes me wonder if Christine become the new Myleene Klass (i.e. everywhere on the blinkin' telly!)
