Sorry if there's already a generic Newsnight thread, or it should come under the BBC News thread, but IMO it should have its own thread.

Anyway, Jeremy's slated to present tonight, and from the Email newsletter I've recieved it looks like it'll be concentrating on something called 'Iraq 2020' which I would assume has something to do with BBC News's "Iraq - 4 years on" strand. Basically they'll have experts in predicting... what Iraq'll be like in 2020. Erm...

Indeed - it looks like Paxman and the floor manager might be the only people in the studio actually interested in news. Unless it turns out to be good, which we'll find out at 10:30.

With all due respect, that is not answering the question of whether or not you threatened to overrule him. Laughing

Are they still using the various theme tunes at the end of the show?

No. Nowadays it's either the normal closing theme, a band in the studio playing their latest single or a topical video montage - sometimes with the video's own sound, other times with the theme tune.

Here's what they predicted the BBC News would look like in 2015. Let's hope not.

It MUST be the future - it's all silvery coloured and with angular fonts!

That's certainly not bad, but the angled fonts need to go. Do the drums and beeps survive into 2015? I hope so. And I sincerely hope the tower doesn't return to haunt us.

Gavin's presenting this evening, and it's discussing the Budget, immigration and there's another film about Iraq.
