Incidentally, Tim Willcox hasn't had a day off in nearly two weeks. Now he's back again for more, that's commitment.

Orca credit to him, he must be having a whale of a time.

Figured there'd be one or two killjoys on this forum, that's just human nature, but I for one am....well I don't like using the word enthralled cos that just conjures up images of teenagers mooning over pop stars. But I'm flicking back and for SS1 (regular Saturday football-fest) and SN (irregular Whale Watch). And I'm sure many more people who NEVER normally watch N24 or Sky News are tuned in too. It's a classic Saturday afternoon feelgood story.

The broadcasters are having a whale of a time (sorry sorry sorry) - why report on hostages, suicide bombs and political scandal when you can park a chopper above London, relax in your studio chair and chat to some woolly-hatted wildlife experts for hours on end? And for the viewers of news - why listen to death, despair and spin doctoring when we can watch true human endeavour at its best? (Where did I put those rose-tinted specs?....)

I think we should give the channels a break and let this one episode play out, and enjoy it while it lasts.

Plus it shows how stupid a film Free Willy really was Wink

Whale heartedly agree with you. With Me Tim Willcox is doing well, good fishing for information. The experts are shoaling around taking his bait and discussing the issues. He's gathering all the information required and presenting it well.

I think this news will put him in a much much higher plaice now in the presenter rankings. But we can't drop a red herring too soon!

I've been out for a few hours. Have Sky run any commercial breaks (or even mentioned any other stories) at all since this morning? At the start of Stanford's programme he trailed a few things which I assume never saw the light of day. Testament to how much the British care (or like to think they do) about animals I suppose.

Was thinking on the way home they were bound to have brought Burley in...

What's interesting is whilst there are lots of issues people wouldn't normally care about because they're a long way away etc. (witness the mining deaths recently) this has done so in an incredibly short space of time.

Yes, I wonder what would happen if something similar occurred in Japan!

Oh bollocks. Feel for the people who've done so much to try and save it.
