Started a new thread for this as the old one's archived.

Don't usually catch the weekend bulletins, but was pleasantly surprised to see Mark Lipscombe doing Sunday evening's TVT. I realise he used to do weekend bulletins at Abingdon, but is he a regular at Whiteley now, or does he just cover?

Just cover I expect. First I've heard of him doing any Whitely shifts.

It'll be interesting if he's doing a Thames Valley shift at the same time as Mr Thompsett's doing a Meridian one. Those two in the newsroom together will be fun.

Oh right-- is there some kind of history between those two? Surprised

Only the history of Carlton to LWT handovers in that little cupboard on the South Bank.

I meant GOOD fun.

And there was me thinking the programmes would serve the audience rather than just a few transmitters ....!!!!!

We are talking ITV, though, here, Reg.

Thames Valley serving two transmitters has got to be better than ITV West serving a transmitter at Mendip and a bent coat hanger at Ridge Hill.

That little booth was our site office, while the present facility was being commissioned .

Thanks for clearing up "fun" between the two presenters, I thought the implication was that they didn't get on!! <"Putting a bag head over my head for blatant stupidity" emoticon>

Oh no, they both have the type of sense of humour that could easily bring the Whitely newsroom to a juddering halt when they're together.

I assume your spelling of Whiteley in this way is some sort of in-joke that I don't understand because I don't move in sufficiently exalted circles.

Is that the Ridge Hill transmitter? Shocked If it is, then why does a transmitter in a decidedly flat looking area have the word "Hill" in its name? Confused Rolling Eyes

It actually on a ridge/hill oddly enough!! Just to the left of that picture there's a steep west facing scarp made from Ludlow Limestone, which stands above the relatively low-lying Old Red Sandstone. Take a look at this map. Some nice views over Wye Valley to west:

and the Malvern Hills to the east from there too:

I really need to stay in more Laughing
