Incidentally, Re: Fox News taking Sky News - how do they receive it, and why is the picture quality so bad and sound slightly out of sync with the pictures?

Looks like that is right, if it is Julian would has been on air for 4 and half hours.

Where are all the BBC1 newsreaders??

ITV got there mains newreaders out very quick. But the only big name newsreaders bought on air on BBC News 24 is Jane Hill whose replace Maxine Mawhinney at 10.05.
