I hope that users would be kind enough to indulge me in this post; I realise that some would perhaps consider this to be better located in the Mock Forum, but the sole purpose of these images is to illustrate how simple it would be to create a better graphics set that would work well for BBC ONE viewers while integrating with standard N24 furniture. Note that all graphics would simply fade in and out - as on HARDtalk/Extra Time etc. rather than animating like N24's graphics set.

No reason why the same style couldn't be extended to other bulletins to maintain consistency:

Yeah, these aren't perfect, and I've not posted them for critical acclaim or destruction; I simply wanted to show how easy it would be to adapt the N24 style to the 10 News Hour (and other National bulletins) without significant complications. None of these graphics would require any animation beyond simple fades in and out.
There's just no excuse at all for the current half-arsed attempts that are currently being used; frankly they're an embarrassment which is a blight on what is supposed to be BBC ONE's flagship news bulletin, and a jewel in the N24 crown.
Bleugh.

Just a quick thought about BBC LDN's mocks... If you added a little red line to the left of the astons, it would be covered by the tower on News 24, and just polishes the graphics off a little for network, whilst keeping the same basic concept.

An excellent addition; it looks far more complete now. Well done.
Note to BBC pres: see how nice things look when you just make a tiny bit of effort?

Both LDN and Tilly O Shea, great ideas!
You would have thought that BBC Pres would'nt of had a problem with this one, it's been discussed for long enough...
An addition note, when News 24 start reusing the "10" reports it would be an idea to either remove the imposed 10 aston or and here's the really radical bit just leave it, instead of simply having one aston crash over the other. It looks messy and unprofessional and dare I say, rushed.
Get your act to together pres.

Agreed, excellent efforts by LDN and Tilly.
I don't understand why they find it so hard to get the graphics right on the 1, 6 and 10 when Breakfast has done a great job of bringing their graphics in line with News 24. The irony of course is that News 24 doesn't display the tower during Breakfast and so their efforts at getting it so spot-on are somewhat wasted.

I'm not entirely sure that the caption generators in N6 are able to produce 'complex' animations such as those seen on N24. I'm sure that other more knowledgeable members will correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I cant see any reason why the astons shouldn't animate on BBC1?
