Cheers w12 - I always take notice of what the likes of you and NickyS have to say - you make some valuable posts.

It was actually a good guess - when you look at the situation hard enough, and you've watched the BBC News output for long enough, it all makes sense. Great for Peter Dobbie though if this goes off as I see it, and it will be a good hour of news if it works out. I think that's the only way the simulcast will work, by supporting it with more in-depth analysis.

I'd like to see Peter working Fridays too. It would also be good to get a business bulletin into the back half hour.

Monday night I see the 10 coming from N6 as usual, a single opt out for everyone at 22:25 or whenever, then the back half hour with Peter Dobbie, weather, sport, papers, business from News 24 studio. Time will tell....

Why's it called the "Ten O'Clock New Hour" rather than "Ten O'Clock New s Hour"?

First of all I thought it was a typo but it's called this on everything I've seen.

Seems like a typo.

The listings at bbc.co.uk/news list Monday's as the "Ten O'clock New Hour" but the rest of the week is infact New s !

Its been correct on the EPG now. Now says 'BBC Ten O'Clock News Hour'. I was really looking forward to this, but I've just seen the new BBC1 astons. I really hope it looks better on News 24! Shocked

At first glance, I'm not a fan of the new astons for the nationals, although they will look much better with the N24 tower and ticker. They don't look right on BBC1 though.

It will also cause less problems with reports and graphics packages, at the moment when they go out on N24, they currently mean the N24 tower and ticker have to be animated on and off to accommodate them, from time to time. At least now they're in the safe zone.

Should we expect any change to N24's presentation and "30 past sting?

I'm thinking News Hour, I'm thinking News 24 Tonight approach, I'm thinking if the current modifications are anything to go by then don't expect much...

And in true TV Forum style (with the tissues...) 59 minutes to go.

Preview of the sports news on N24 instead of regional opt-out.

Would have preferred to see Peter Dobbie (??) preview the 10.30 hour rather than Rebecca Lowe. As in . . . 'and coming up at 10.30 . . .'

Ooo brilliant - the top of the astons dont line up with the top of the tower. Good to see they checked these things before introducing new graphics.

It looks cheep and awful. BBC News just needs a complete redesign, as the BBC seem to be finding it hard to make graphics packages that are compatible

I take back my comment about the new astons looking alright. They don't.

I was speaking under the impression that the astons had been widened so that they would line up with the News 24 tower. They do not! The transparent bars at the bottom are therefore completely pointless and unnecessary. They needn't have bothered - the normal two-line News 24 aston doesn't reach the top of the tower anyway!

The story aston is hideous, even more so with the tower in front of it.

I'm hoping this is all just a stop-gap until the new set comes in later this year, when, if they have any sense, they will design some coherent astons for use throughout the whole of BBC News, or failing that, adopt the News 24 ones.
