EPG showing the normal format for the Ten on BBC1 next week. And it is also branding the 10pm slot on News 24 as 'Ten O'Clock New Hour'. Clearly a typo . . . right?
I cant see Huw doing the whole hour unless the closing roundup is axed. If the Ten is left the way it is now, then Huw would have to say goodbye to News 24 viewers twice at 10.25 and 10.35.
Actually the whole thing would work alot better if the closing roudup was axed. Then it would work the same way as the ITV Evening News/Evening News Extra handover.
Peter will be on standby from 10pm, and will present from 10.30pm. And he'll be damn good at it too - IMO the best part of the News 24 day is Peter's 11pm hour!
Although remember the whole thing about putting BBC1 presenters on News 24, this would be the perfect excuse to start, I suppose!

Perhaps the weather/trailers will be stretched across the roundup as well? It's not very long really. Either that, or the roundup could be recorded during the regional news/weather, and played out on BBC One afterwards?

No. It is been branded at the Ten News Hour. It's going to be "More in-depth" as for Huw presenting I've no idea. Does anyone?

If this turns out to be correct, that's great news, I'm really looking forward to it.
The only issue comes on a Friday, when Peter isn't in - it used to be Tim Willcox who did it reguarly, but he's increasingly been tied up during the day on one of the other shifts. Recently Alistair Yates, Jake Lynch (!) Tim himself, even Susan Osman have filled the Friday night slot. I would hope that Tim gets the regular Friday night slot, which would give 2 of my favourite presenters some more well deserved exposure on the BBC.
I'm assuming weekends will stay the same as they currently are.

The six & one will follow the ten and proberbly sooner than expected. There are some bigger changes on the cards. There were mutterings about moving most of the news into N24 studio - if the simulcasts work there is no real need for a separate studio. There are less and less studio rehersals as such & N24 only gets a quick dust and a flick over once a day now when they hand over to world service.
The big idea being that the format and programme pattens are in place and settled when the move to Broadcasting House takes place thats if they stop changing the plans and let the builders get on with it. The present projected backdrop could well be replaced by a real vista though with all the job cuts it could be a very big office with nobody working in it.
Everything could change of course as decisions only last about 5 mins these days.

You're either well informed, or that was a damn good guess...
And it won't save money in the short term - if anything it'll cost money with longer sport, buisness staying on into the evenings and potentially a second newspaper reviewer to pay. Long-term, who knows....?

I'm sure the way it will go will be to end the 10 with a single opt outs for everyone, the regionals and N24. Then the back half hour will be from the N24 studio with a N24 presenter rather than N6. Remember the back half hour also contains a paper review and an extended sports bulletin - N24 studio lends itself to this, and it would mean Peter Dobbie can stay in the chair right up to 01.00 if he wants! At the end of the 10 they'd do the usual "on News 24 now you can watch a more comprehensive...bla bla bla"
