There is a technical issue with DTT transmission - The content of more than one stream cannot be identical without mucking up the data stream of the multiplex. I note - for the simulcast - that they have delayed BBC ONE by around 1.5 seconds, If however a static caption was shown - such as a map, photo and a reporting from caption - for more than this time lapse the identical content would appear causing the multiplex coding to go haywire. Having the News24 Tower and Strap on the News24 stream helps avoid this possibility. A simple DOG would't be as effective in adding sufficient difference information.

Absolute Rubbish. How does Breakfast work then?

Apologies - I do believe that this does has some validity hence the time gap which must be sufficient to cause sufficent scrambling of the individual streams source difference.

Who's job is it to write the text that goes on the ticker on News 24? By the look of it last night a ten-year-old.

I hardly ever see static captions on Breakfast for more than a second, there's usually some kind of something on there... if not then the system must work on sound basis?

Well there's still the occasional niggle, but most problems have been ironed out. News 24 have it well in hand now. Sport using the Sportsday theme for the headlines, business using the former Business Today theme. They've dropped the '30 BOTH 24 sting to keep the pace going, and the News 24 section gels together quite well now. I didn't originally like the white type on the rear projection screens, but I've come to the conclusion that they work quite well. The tower and ticker animates off at the end of the 10 in time for the titles, which is great, and the reports for the 10 all now seem to have their graphics well in the safe zone. And, of course, Tim is doing a great job in the chair.

It's all sadly let down by the captions generated by the N6 gallery. Utterly feeble, I can't emphasise enough how tacky they look compared to N24's offering. They need a complete re-style, as people have done very effectively in this thread.

I still fail to see why they couldn't just take News 24's graphics. Perhaps they don't want the 10 to become a News 24 bulletin.

If News 24 have to break away for Breaking News, the 10 will loose its graphics.

I think he means use the same astons as N24 but from N6's gallery.

Even if the BBC bulletins can't have animated graphics, a still version of the News 24 graphics would be much better.

Last nights programme, during the story about the cartoons, they showed the reaction in various countries. They showed what the country was by showing the flag followed by the country's name, accept if you were watching on News 24, where you would get half the flag and the country's name, because the dog partially obscured the graphic. Although this effort is only likely to be a temporary effort, surely they could of come up with a better design. Whats wrong with adopting the News 24 aston and just not animating it.

I just don't understand why N6 can't animate graphics like news 24, when BBC World use N6 they can do it, but why not normally?

Even though World is coming from N6, the N6 gallery isn't used, and it is run through the World Gallery. They control the TOG with their system, and the N6 gallery still uses an old static system.
