I can see why they were banned with such comments. Spotlight is a fantastic local news programme and their recent mini relaunch with the lighthouse motif and window on Plymouth look very good IMO. The journalism is brilliant, and the presenters warm and friendly, yet also authorative. I do, however, miss Teresa Driscoll greatly.

During the lunchtime broadcast from Drake Circus, did anyone else notice the member of the crew almost permanently in shot in order to remove the idiot teenagers from the background? I totally lost track of what was being said, as I did actually think for a moment that things were about to kick off !

It was reported on Westcountry Live tonight that Plymouth planners have given permission for an 85m Skyscraper at the former site of TSW at Derry's Cross. It will be the tallest building in Plymouth and work could begin in 13 months time.

Apparently BBC1 SW has successfully opted out for the headlines from Plymouth at the start of the 10 o clock news, BBC1 SW digital was showing London headlines though.

The London newsreader even welcomed the South West to the bulletin , a strange arrangement . Confused

Always been like that. I remember a huge power failure in Plymouth one morning when I was on. Just a quick call to Newsroom South East as it was then and they make a quick mention so South West viewers understand why they are not getting Spotlight.

Today at the end of the 18:30 news rather than hand back to London for the 6 O'Clock news presenters to read the news the two presenting the local news said the two top stories and then went on to recap the local news.

Is this new, been going for ages or a one off?

It's been like that for a couple of weeks now - all regions do it.

I think it's a strategy to stop the 6.55 pm exodus of viewers from the bbc. It's worked for me , now i don't switch over until seven o'clock. Smile
