For those with an interest in such things, Spotlight (and Spotlight Channel Islands) have changed to 16:9 today.

They must be part way through the Plymouth gallery changes, by the look of it.

Spotlight Channel Islands tonight was in 14:9 up to the point where they joined the main programme, then it went out to full 16:9.

Obviously changing over a bit at a time.

This morning have they changed the coulour and the size of the time aston?

It was incredibly flouresent and fuzzy and larger that it normally is. Also the picture they use in their traffic report graphic has also changed.

The titles look different to me too - maybe because I'm watching them online and they're a different perspective? Also they've changed the shot after the titles to a ground level shot of the desk rather than the really brilliant high shot of the whole studio and spotlight graphic on the weather screen Sad

And they've reverted to the old national bed again - much better!

EDIT: And they've changed the view on the sofa screen to something more like the winter version - no more Drake's Island Sad

EDIT: Sorry to go on, but the titles do look different from the Channel Islands version - the lighthouse motif seems more flat than it's previous 'pointy' incarnation.

There was a first for a news programme last night, I think. The entire Spotlight programme came live from the Devon County Show in front of a live audience! They even had special opening titles!

Click here to see, but be quick, it'll be gone by Monday night!

They did exactly the same on Thursday as well - two days in a row!

I wondered (no direct knowledge, just wondered) if they'd arranged to be out on location for a couple of days in order to give more time in the studio for the technical changes to do with 16:9.

A nice four day block of Thursday to Sunday would probably be useful.

While I'm here, did anyone else watch the opt-out programme about mining history at 19:30 on Friday?

The technical quality was superb. Possibly made in HD, though I've not got the kit to be certain.

This may sound a stupid question but...

Are the Graphics for Spotlights News done in house or by Somebody else?

Becasue the current Clock aston is hideous, very large, fuzzy, very red and HUGE compared to the other one.

Also how difficult is it to transmit FM Radio and UHF TV From the same place all over the south west in HD? and are the OB vans Currenty HD yet or Not.

Has anyone else noted that there seems to be a slight problem with coming out of Plymouth's regional opts lately? It's particularly noticeable after the regional headline inserts - there's an obvious jump in both picture and sound a moment into the subsequent title sequence nearly every time. I can't say I've noticed a corresponding disturbance when they opt in.

Anyone any idea why this has started happening (I've none of the technical knowledge so common hereabouts, I admit - I'm just interested as I haven't seen this kind of problem for a good few years)? And is it only in the South West?
