What the hell was the Jan Ravens bit at the end about?

That was Jan Ravens? I didn't even recognise her. I actually thought it was a follow up trailer for a few seconds, not a part of the show. It misfired very badly.

I don’t get how anyone familiar with the humour of This Week could have possibly made that mistake. I must admit I thought it was Rebecca Front at the time though. I was expecting the gag to be better personally.

Did Blue Nun get a mention tonight? Can’t say I noticed it.

Brexitcast is a good listen. I hope the geekiness and conversational nature survive the transfer to TV

Good podcast, doubt it’ll be able to reach the standards of This Week on TV though

Brexitcast is decent enough filler for the NC, but like others I'm unsure how an excellent audio product can transfer to television.

I also feel as if it isn't fully replacing This Week as an analytical look at the week in UK politics in an accessible manner, instead focusing on Brexit.

Brexitcast is a decent podcast, but The Week in Parliament while being a straight format would give BBC1 viewers a review of the political week over Brexitcast in the same slot.

Possibly because it's not going to be a permanent replacement?

Brexitcast could change to be a political insider take on the week's stories and special editions when something significant happens. Stories told from the journalists point of view, with MPs and politicians guesting - rather than a pundit's view, or ex politicians.

In the style of 'Beyond 100 days'. it'll no doubt keep the Brexitcast name, but continue for many years, and discuss matters other than Brexit.

Well whether it's done and dusted by October or revoked all together Brexit will still cast a shadow over politics for many years to come.

Beyond Brexit-cast has a nice ring to it...

I imagine that those who want that format already know where to find it. The TW slot is for something with a more entertaining take on it.

It's like saying that the Daily Politics shouldn't cover PMQs because BBC Parliament already gives people that.

What will be the ongoing plans for covering by-elections, which were previously ran as a This Week special? Theres a pretty big upcoming one in Brecon on the 1st August (first for new PM, remainer parties standing aside for Lib Dems free run, probable reduction to almost zero of Government majority if it hasn't already gone by time Wednesday this week) which surely will warrant coverage outside of an update on the overnight news channel simulcast.

Way off topic but if an election was forced beforehand would the by election go ahead?

I guess a summer by election would always have been covered by the news channel anyway, but longer term no reason Brexitcast couldn't do it.
