Minor problems with the screens today, but it only lasted a second.

The On The Record titles and theme were brilliant - wry and non-conformist but with authority and gravitas.

The original Croc titles were designed, I believe, by Tim Goodchild, who went on to be BBC Science's in-house graphic designer for a period, and has done some pretty high-end work on series like 'Walking with Cavemen'

I think there was a later version that was designed by BBC News Graphics.

You're right about the designers.

The animators, of course, were the folks at 3 Peach Animation:

I also spy the rather terrifying "Assignment" opening titles in that video. That, too, was a BBC NCA production at the same time as On The Record.

I noticed whilst wearing headphones at the start of today's show in particular you can just about hear 'and cue Jo!'

Is there any word on what BBC One HD will show on Sundays at 1100? The EPG isn't giving anything away but hopefully it'll be a "guest region" along the lines of Inside Out, and not half an hour of slide and clips like the regional news.

Not mad keen on the 'show the crew' thing. It always looks like a mistake when they don't reference it. At least if Jo said "well, off you go, thanks for coming on" and then the floor manager came in to de-mic somebody, then it would have a bit more context.

At the moment, they cut to wide shots while somebody is talking, to reveal that nobody is listening because the floor manager is faffing about with a guest. Not to mention that in nearly every show they'd had a live hit from parliament or a VT that they could have used as a guest change-over moment.

My main issue with this new show is that it looks too busy with guests coming on and off in wide shots. Now the DP had a similar turnover, but it felt less fast paced and easier to grasp the debate. This feels too rushed in one go for what is a 45 min slot.

I don't think it indicates that 'nobody is listening' at all. Studio guests are used to seeing activity around them during a programme, so I'm sure it would make little difference to them whether the viewer can witness it.

From my point of view, I don't think it detracts from the programme. If anything, it makes the viewer feel more involved in the 'live' aspect which they are undoubtedly wanting to emphasise.

I think the usual DP (except Wednesday) only ever had 2 guests who stayed throughout. They rarely invited someone else on, and if they did, it was only one.

Now they have 5 guests permanently around the desk at a time, with 2 of them being changed during the programme.

New post on the BBC blog about BBC Parliament, and some new bespoke programming...

Nice use of the old BBC Parliament branding on a post from the controller of BBC Parliament...

EDIT: Looking at the daily Parliamentary summary programmes, these now seem to be permanently presented from in-front of a green screen, with a picture of the old Millbank set behind it!

Possibly worth mentioning - since no-one else has - that the titles are different for the Wednesday PMQs editions, with the slightly nauseating fast-moving footage of the devolved administrations' buildings not featuring.
