I like the more conversational approach, but it remains to be seen how well it will work when big stories necessitate a big political interview.

The Podcast/Roundtable approach is great for a deeper discussion about things - and not having a rigid editorial agenda to follow can be refreshing.

Just a thought, will Sunday Politics London continue to use the studio, complete with cast off bits from the old DP set?

On the whole, I like the new show. I don’t think the presentation quite works though - the music is just same-old amongst the range of news programmes, and the lower thirds etc seem too bulky. I feel like something similar to the BBC Sport graphics would fit better. The set looks superb, however.

I liked those too but I wonder if they were a bit uninviting to more casual viewers, and I think this new programme is trying to be more accessible to those not traditionally interested in politics (not that the name "Politics Live" is going to stop people being put off…)

As somebody who never really watched political programmes, the Daily Politics titles were a total turn-off. They were like some sort of weird in-joke that a casual viewer wouldn't get. Politics Live, in presentation and name, is much more friendly and accessible.

They were trying to go after the same style as On the Record but went about it the wrong way, ultimately. On the Record, of course, is probably one of the few programmes people (outside of TV Forum) watched just for the titles and then turned over.

Just for fun . . . Very Happy

EDIT: To change font on the desk. . .

It seems it's equality of genders on a panel (but with a foot note 'unless its all women').

I think a mixed panel for the first show would've been better... you know, equality and all that.

The title music has an Outside Source feel to it.

I think some of the production team still have in their mind the show is 60 minutes long rather than 45 as they seem to have to very quickly rush the ending of the show mid discussion these first couple of episodes! (In fact the first episode they cut out before Jo could say goodbye!)

Luckily, tomorrow is a longer show!

In all fairness, how often do you see an all-male panel versus all-female panel? Aside from Loose Women I don't think I've ever seen the latter.

One of the core ideas behind the new show is about sharing content online - so I would guess the on-screen text has been sized so it works when viewed on a mobile screen or embedded in facebook or twitter posts.

Not really the point. If the BBC 'ban' all male panels, the same should apply to all female panels. How about all panels having a 50:50 split.

I think the point is that women and BAME are positively discriminated on BBC shows as they're under-represented unlike middle-age white men in the industry.
