Unless my eyes are deceiving me, the scrolling Politics Live text seems to be some sort of projection. It was certainly glowing on Amber Rudd's chair earlier.

The background in an LED Matrix, as advised by noggin earlier in this thread
I think it's far more likely to be an LED matrix solution (not to be confused with LED-backlit LCD, or OLED) - as used at Look North in Leeds, in areas of Studio B at NBH etc.

I really like the music and title sequence - very nicely done.

The desk and studio design is simple and quite small but is quite nicely done, but I do think that it all looks way too crowded behind the desk - there should only be four people at most behind it and the panel should be a more equal split of gender.

I don't think it's too crowded. There's enough space between the guests to comfortably get a single shot of them individually - how much more space does one need?

So does this set replace the round BBC News-esque one that was at Millbank? I thought that was only put in fairly recently.

For some reason my head is reading that in the sexy M&S food voiceover voice... These aren't just LEDs, these are 2.6mm softly diffused LEDs..

The previous Millbank set had definitely been in place for a good while - when the Daily Politics refreshed with the axing of the Politics show, I'm fairly sure the set was only changed in a minor way,

The overraching design of a big screen and a series of smaller screens in a circle goes as far back as the LAUNCH of the Daily Politics back in 2003!

The intro is much more corporate and much more straight laced than Daily Politics was.

I always liked the randomness of the Daily Politics ones, I thought it was a good link back to how unusual the intro of On The Record was.

One thing I don't think anyone has mentioned is that the whole thing looks to have higher production values before. This isn't to say things were especially shabby previously, but beyond an often jerky wide shot after the titles Daily Politics was generally full of static shots and didn't feel especially fluid. Whilst Politics Live retains the occasional jerky shot of its predecessor (the pre-title zoom out perhaps needing a little finesse I thought!), there were also plenty of lovely wide shots and on-camera moves - the new screens also look LOVELY.

I liked those too but I wonder if they were a bit uninviting to more casual viewers, and I think this new programme is trying to be more accessible to those not traditionally interested in politics (not that the name "Politics Live" is going to stop people being put off…)

Surprised by how much I like the new look. The music is brilliant and the studio/titles feel really fresh - even if they are completely different from the rest of the news output.
