I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but bearing in mind a good majority of regional news programs & 'Politics Shows' share either or both studio/galleries, how long does it take to reprogram the computer from PS style captions to regional news style captions & vice versa?

Would the 'later' news been a request from the regions, to 'put things right' ?

No. It takes very little time to "reprogram" studio equipment for news programmes as opposed to any other regional programme. Most vision mixers have the ability to recall certain settings and effects and as far as on-screen graphics are concerned, it's more or less the same principle: the operators just recall different templates to get the appropriate style of graphics.

What does take more time is any set adjustments required following Politics Show and prior to the news. You'll notice that the regions that use the same studio for both have remarkably similar sets for both programmes save for different rugs and furniture!

Although the reason for the news is simply to provide regional news on a Sunday, it does also mean that the studio is left pretty much set up for Monday morning's breakfast opts.

It takes no time at all.. I'd imagine changing the studio from politics to news takes a bit of time but I'd imagine no-one in the regions asked to stay on til 8pm they're probably the same lot who've been on all day for the politics show..put the news back on at 5 and let them go home early!!

They ought to have the news on after Songs of Praise on a Sunday at 17.40 (or thereabouts). I find that 19.35 is an obscure time for news especially when they have another summary at 22.00. It's too close, IMO.

The 7.35 Sunday bulletin normally gets 4.3 million, which is quite respectable considering it is up against Coronation Street. The BBC have tried other shows in the 7.30 slot against the Street on Sundays, but the news has the highest ratings.

Haven't they got this all wrong on a Sunday tea time / evening ?

Tonight we have news at 7.40pm then again at 10pm, either side of Indiana Jones again (haven't the BBC worn those tapes out by now).

What was wrong with the tea time bulletin about 5.30 / 6pm ?

They're doing it again this weeken - showing the news at both ends of Indiana Jones. WHY???? Mad

They've been doing it for months, its just that there are usually 2 hour long programmes in between

One thing that annoys me about weekends is why they feel the need to shunt the bulletins to fit the schedule. For fùck's sake, it's the news at when, never mind news at Ten. do what ITV does and put the bulletin at a fixed time and let the schedule work around that. Logical, no?

ITV News at weekends is much like the BBC's News... especially the late bulletin... sometimes we get a 10 minute 'summary' at 10.10... sometimes at 11.00 with either 5, 10 or 15 minutes...
