Dumbing down indeed... I miss his incisive and, as you say, human comments on the Six.

I know he wanted more time with his family and less travelling, but it seems like a bit of a downsize in terms of audience exposure - far more people, surely, much watch the Six than do Sunday AM? I don't usually see it myself, truth be told, as I'm usually either at church, out having coffee or asleep - though I do watch online later if I have time.

Have you ever stopped to consider that audience size isn't everything. (feel free to think of any number of "size doesn't matter" jokes). I'm sure, like Moira it is more relaxed for the guy.

Personally, I love the show, relaxed yet informative and a nice mix. Very nice way to welcome in Sunday mornings.

It is deemed an important "opinion former" show - a bit like the Today programme on Radio 4. It IS watched by politicians etc. - and often you see newsworthy comments from it repeated later in the day in news reports on both the BBC and ITV, as the interviews on it reveal new information or angles on current stories.

Possibly James. He was quite good as a pundit during election night 05 from that very nice set...

Is there any indication that David Dimbleby will retire prior to the next General Election? He was at his peak last year!

I take all the points above, of course - I just happen to know that Marr is an ambitious man who thrives on a challenge...
