It also makes no sense.......I thought the whole idea of dropping North Tonight and Scotland Today brands and having the same sets was to uniform the entire news operation in Scotland so why leave the North with the old set and titles......am I missing something here?
I have a feeling, STV will wait until the end of the six month trial for the Edinburgh programme - then, if it is unsuccessful, they will give the set to the Aberdeen programme. If it is successful, Aberdeen will get a new set. Just a theory, though...
EDIT: Looking at the promo for the new East show, I'm not too impressed by the set. Hopefully Glasgow's will look better, as it would be a step down to what we have just now.

I wouldn't get too excited. The promo appears to show the Edinburgh set as three pieces of plywood painted white with a grainy picture of Edinburgh castle put on the screen.
HO
That has to be one of the least-designed sets I've ever seen?!

Strangely, the tiny set and unimaginative set works for STV news. Bear in mind though all we've seen so far was the lunchtime bulletin. Will be interesting to see how the sport works. Graphics, titles and music very nice though

The only think that doesn't work for me is the nasty, cheap looking white bits in between the screens - they just look so naff, like whiteboards or similar!
Could they not have used some sort of glass/designed panelling to make it look a little less bare!

Didn't catch the lunchtime bulletin, but from the screenshots on TV Live the titles and Glasgow set look quite nice. Minimal, but that's no complaint. Not sure what to think of the constant DOG in the bottom right however - STV have always avoided the ITV plc practice of doing that, but the astons are very nice.
The titles actually remind me of Scotland Today's 1996-99 look.

Appreciate the pictures, but do you have any video yet Rob?
I may be able to cap the Edinburgh flavour for you if I'm not cooking dinner.
