If I recall correctly, Malcolm Wilson and Sheena McDonald presented from that mainly white set with dashes of blue lighting. It was also from this set that Shereen made her anchoring debut, if I'm not mistaken. It was a very simple set with an angled desk. Nothing too fancy.
The same general set was updated to take on a sky/pastel blue look which, I believe, was at the same juncture as Viv Lumsden joining the channel. The blue look may just have been introduced prior to Viv joining.
It was essentially the same as the white set, but with a textures blue colour added.
Then........if I am not mistaken, the self same set appeared briefly in a slightly red/salmon pink rendition, as opposed to the blue and, by this time, was shared briefly with Scotsport, whilst an entirely new set was being constructed for Scotland Today. In fact, the salmon pink set may well have been Scotsports set, with Scotland Today just borrowing it briefly until theirs was ready.
When it was, an entirely new look was introduced, I guess in 1990/91, and along came the long, blue sweeping desk with blue backdrop and the illuminated thistle as the "leg" for the desk!
Or maybe I'm just mega confused????? But I recall the sharing of Scotsport and Scotland Today for a while.
Quoting myself above, but the set I was thinking of was the same one that you've posted above with Shereen and Viv at the desk. Salmon pinkish.
either way the look only lasted a year it seem unless it started in September 1988? I doubt it,
TV Ark is wrong, the clip of the titles and Mike Gower introducing the afternoon news is from 1989. If memory is correctly that tune and the titles were introduced for ST and the short bulletins around March 1989 and lasted until September 1990. STV actually went through three different themes for the news bulletins during 1988 (the 1986 theme, plus two others which lasted several months each) while ST retained the theme and titles introduced during 1986 - a bit of a mess!
What 623 means is, at the end of last Thursdays' "Representing Border" (20/02/14), the presenter said they would be joining their colleagues on Tuesday (25/02/14) for the Indy-Ref Debate at 10.35pm.
I wondered if Border and STV were sharing some content as a Bernard Ponsonby report I saw recently, had him refer to "this channel" a few times in the voiceover. However, he did refer to STV in the sign off, so maybe he was just being weird.
He did seem unduly upset at not getting an interview, and decided to make his own personal woe the story, but that's a whole other issue.

Yes both channels do share content, have done so for many years.
