An excellent night for STV and esp for Juliet's debut.

Coverage was great, reporters everywhere.

We even had another blast from past John MacKay standing up doing the lunchtime news. If mem serves me correct last time that happened, Shereen was still at STV.

Looking forward to tonights STV News at Six. Election reaction plus all the national & international news. Me thinks an unoffical pilot of the hour long news with a look at getting rid of the ITV Evening News.


John Standing up.....guess all the seats were being used for the results show. The set was poor but at least they bothered this time round....previous Scottish Parliament elections they have done nowt!

There nothing wrong with the set. Best point is there bothered. I watched till 3am.

Today's the day the Edinburgh and East version of STV News at 6 starts. Will be interesting to hear if the alleged revamp of the theme tune is today too.

EDIT: Or maybe it isn't today. John has just said it's starting "from next week", yet the EPG data suggests otherwise.

It was clearly meant to be yesterday as all the advertising on the sides of Lothian Buses states something like "Your new STV News at Six team based in Edinburgh. Starts 16th May". Also, I think they might be using a bit of creative licence to have Sean shown on the pic claiming he will be based in Edinburgh.

Must just be running a week behind. I noticed it wasn't mentioned at the end of Friday's news, and it's the sort of thing you would talk about in advance.

Also set will be built over weekend although some bulletins from studio 2. It will be White with more emphasis on local news

Indeed. That's what the majority of this thread is about. We're just wondering why it seems to be a week late. The outdoor advertising about the relaunch gives a 16th May start date for the new East/West shows.

Its not clear that he is saying no new look. That comment reads as though he is only referring to the split.

It was a poorly phrased question.
