TUPE only applies to permanent staff. Freelancers or Contract staff are excempt.
I guess TUPE applies here?

Not necessarily. In many cases if the contractor employs staff who predominantly or only work on one contract for one client, then the new contractor is usually subject to TUPE obligations too.

So they have a massive glass insert on the3 desk, but insist on using laptops that are at least 6 years old?
I was lucky enough to pay a visit to STV Studios at Pacific Quay in Glasgow last year and the first thing I looked at was the desk which although looks like the glass is see through, there is actually a piece of black material underneath the glass! What for? I don't know! But it would seem more sensible for them to place a computer under the desk like ITV News and BBC News!

STV seem to keep to the traditional news style; desk, anchor, screen, sports, weather. Nothing else, no walking about with an iPad or swinging jib shots. Although I really do like the shot that zooms in quite quickly on John and zooms out at the same speed, suits the speed of the music. Hopefully the next revamp brings some smoother graphics!
