Was there a separate presenter for the North opt out or did Norman just present that? He just introduced the Dundee newsroom, but didn't mention " news for the north "?

The Aberdeen, Highlands and Island local round-up is now presented by the main anchor in Aberdeen, whilst the Tayside and Fife opt continues to be presented from a satellite studio in Dundee.

Definitely liking the revamp. Liking the promo for the Android and iPhone apps at the end as well.
I noticed that the camera was a bit slow to start zooming in when the opening titles ended...

Holly Hamilton from Radio Tay in Dundee. She used to do the news there before moving to STV.
Who is the lady in Dundee?

First impressions of the north version from someone who used to live in Aberdeen for a bit then? It looks good, Norman has fitted in to the new look better than I thought he would. It really looks like it's designed for John Mackay, and Norman isn't someone who gives the impression he likes to play up to an Anchorman image. That's not an insult or a compliment, to be honest, they just come across as having different personalities. The titles look really good.
Surprised by the pan Scottish nature of the first couple of stories. Don't know if that's more regular these days but the two main leads were quite weak and not local. Sometimes that's unavoidable and there's a strong argument for STV News in Aberdeen carrying quite a few national Scottish stories, but there are ways of making them seem more local. Certainly a live from Glasgow Airport seemed a very bad idea in that regard.
The optout point is also a little clumsy, although I can't think of another way of doing it. It saves a salary and makes common sense to have the main newsreader continue with the Aberdeen news, but it's just a bit messy, especially given the need to explain to viewers in Dundee they won't get local news if they have Sky. I don't know if it would even be better for Norman to say: "I'll have the news in Aberdeen, and Holly will have the news for Freeview and Cable viewers in Dundee" rather than just introducing Dundee and making it feel like you're going to get their news wherever you are. Also, it strikes me viewers in Dundee have a far better end of the deal, Holly's stunning.
(sorry, it had to be said
)
This is all just nitpicking though. Still seems a good setup, I'm sure the news agenda is normally far better and they were just getting used to a new studio, and STV on a far smaller budget still manages to provide a far more localised (and in my view, raw and superior) news service to BBC Scotland's offerings. It's a hell of an achievement that they should even be able to compete, so well done.

I think on Thursday we shall see if Andrea could also pull it off.
I remember the first day of the Edinburgh opt, there had created a special report, alas it got bumped of the top stop because that was the May day winds with a lot of chaos.

I wonder if North have implemented Andrea in the titles for Thursday and Friday. Would be kind of silly of them not to I think...
