Yeah he was on STV News either this week or last week being interviewed as an Oxfam Campaigner. Never even realised he had left until I saw him on the TV....
I've seen the ads so will take a look tomorrow night. Apparently Scotland Tonight will offer "fresh perspectives and debate"..."on air and online"..."a new programme for a new Scotland". Whatever all that means.
Can't help but think it looks a little familiar though?
Other than the presence of red, I don't think the new titles look anything like the 2002 rendition of Scotland Today. Rona and Sarah are distinctly different, although that bloke in the images looks identical in both eras.

Totally agree - totally different. Although influences affect all programmes. A map swirling around for BBC national and regional bulletins look rather similar to versions of North Tonight - yet that was the only similarity.
I am not too sure if this will be a success but at least they are trying this out.
However, while I may sound like a whinging Highlander - they must have sizable programme content relevant to STV North audiences (not just Aberdeen) to make this credible up here!
While I like Rona - not sure why she got the gig over talented journalists either in STV Central or STV North areas.
I think it will be a slow burner - but let us give it a chance.

I think they gave the gig to Rona cause she is freelance, therefore if it doesn't work out they don't need to make anyone redundent.
Personally I think they should have given it to Louise White 4 nights aweek, but again they prob wanted a new face as that seemed to have worked for them in Edinburgh with Juliet

Then why is John getting to do this he what Nearly 17 years with Scotland today. Three more years and he will break the record for the longest serving presenter on STV news, Shereen was 19 years on Camera

John is prob doing it because of the exposure. Since Edinburgh launched apart from 5 mins a day he is only seen in the West. Plus budgets. Seems more logical and cheaper for them to get a reporter to present the lunchtime news a couple of days aweek so they can use a highly experienced broadcaster for two nights a week. Therefore only actually paying a presenter (Rona) 2 nights a week.
I doubt he would sign up to work Monday to Thursday on the 6 and Scotland Tonight. He has a family but in the same sense he knows the money situation and has went half way with them.

I have to ask who did the lunchtimes this afternoon?
