What's the point in hiring someone new in Rona Dougall from Sky News?? Could they not just get someone else from STV to do it??!

Like who? both north and central are pushed to the limits and I cant see staff coming in at 9am and working 12-14 hours shifts. There need to have enough staff ( at cheapest rate) to be able to cover everything during the day.

It now looks like John will work

Mon/rues 3pm - 11pm
wed/Thur: 9pm - 7pm

Does this mean Rachel will present News at 6 every Friday from now on?

AFAIK, John is still the main anchor, Monday to Friday on the STV News at Six.
623 was just making an assumption, not stating a fact.

aya, alas It should have said 9am NOT 9PM Embarassed Embarassed it would seem he will no longer be doing lunchtime news on at least 2 days a week. Rachel might end up doing some of these.

No, I think they meant to say they will "each present the show separately two nights a week".

I'm not expecting Newsnight, sounds like it will be a re-hash of reports from North and Central regions. I also note they seem to think there's a need to have another website/microsite within their confusing mess of webpages, and a dedicated Facebook and Twitter. Why not just sort out a decent single news website and social media channels, then do more to promote them as one clear online destination for Scottish news.

I can't see myself watching this. With The Nightshift now seeming to start around midnight, this will mean a typical 6pm to midnight period on STV weeknights will have a third of the time devoted to studio-based news, followed by 5 hours of txts being read out over aerial views of mountains.

Indeed, and also might have been nicer if two of the nights was presented by a North face......stv - what a farce!!!

Nah I'm sorry, but in my opinion Norman couldn't do something that goes out both regions, his accent at times is hard to understand and I have to frequently put the subtitles on to understand him, give you one example, he always says 'Progrum', it's 'Programme'.

Although Andrea would have been a good choice as she is both known to Central and North.

What a stupid comment?? He can be understood perfectly well!! I guess it is you that must have the problem? We all had to understand Tam Cowan and the other scrawling sidekick Michelle when they were on. I can not believe you posted that comment!

Well I did post it, and I'm not sorry for posting it either.

And sums you up to be honest!

The Scotland tonight intro looks just like the 1988 north tonight intro

I would like to see John and Rona presenting the programme together, as opposed to individually.

The Lunchtime News for Central was presented by Kelly Ann from the Edinburgh Studios!

Strange!
