Sad news but not a surprise!

One thing is for sure tho, I think the edinburgh News at 6 will be permanent now. Or if it doesn't Juliet will move to Glasgow and become the new Louise and be the Opt Out face and John's stand in.

Although I would much prefer that STV gave a permanent contract to Rachel!

I wonder why there have just whitewashed BBC Reporting Scotland Confused

Also the STV reporters also do many other jobs which make up the local websites, like whats happening etc.

STV News from Aberdeen running a nightly feature on fifty years of ITV in northern Scotland. Doesn't match the fifty years programme given to STV.

Yes an utter slap in the face by stv to the people of the North East....who had to suffer the 50th of stv a few years back.

Just goes to show they simply look upon the North as a money making - advertising revenue machine!

They should be ashamed of themselves!!

On the plus side - the North Tonight team will do us proud.....looking forward to seeing more of the "Glorious Grampian days" in the evenings to come!!!

I've Watched/recorded the features all week, and it isn't a slap in the face. 5 days worth of 3/4 min features is very good. I was worried 'STV' may forget the Grampian name completely.

It's on par with Tyne Tees 5 part feature in Jan 2009. And FAR better than Border's 50th Birthday mention which was a 2 and a half minute footage basically saying "We started... Mr and Mrs... we merged... and were dead"

The thing is STV Central only got that aswell during the birthday week, There did have two extra birthday programmes:

* STV gold: 90mins of stv central I cant remember when it was broadcast:
* STV top 30 broadcast 4 months later!

I have read that Maybe The hour should have did something, Maybe next Tuesday there can do something nice?

Pics: I have to wonder where STV got them from!

Im still wondering when more of the Archive will appear on the youtube player...

But as you said, central stv had two dedicated special shows to mark the 50th!!

It would have been better to let North opt out for a special 1 hour show on Tuesday instead of the Hour?

North Tonight did well this week (fantastic to see John Duncanson back too....he has not changed a bit) but most of their interviews were taken from the 30th birthday show in 1991........little money spent on it then?

It is obvious that North is the poor relation in the stv group....which is a shame when there is so much good talent up here.

To be honest the 30mins of the interviews from STV 50th show were all taken from it 30th Birthday show in 1987, and then there added in some new interviews.

I do have to agree with you, a Special one hour programme should be created for Grampian, which could also look at the troubles with Dundee in 1961 Wink

Here is clip of Scotland today from 1982, its not that long but does show of the set with which is in a nice red glow ( I dare say for XMAS)

Thursday 23rd Dec 1982: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrqQs0pVcaI&feature=related

Another clip from 1983: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqFXKMbQ6Yo&feature=fvsr

clip from 1986: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvDTbT2rFus

Question has to be, was it in 1984 it was changed on to the sofa format, but the IBA etc forced stv back to the desk by 1986?
