I'll be doing the 6 on Friday, I am holiday cover for the summer for whichever shifts are going!

Looks like STV might actually be listening to us for once!

I could actually see Rachel covering Edinburgh too!

I understand there are many others at STV who could and prob would want to, but lets be honest, does anyone think that Kelly Ann Bishop, Laura White or Loraine Patrick could do News at 6?

Bank Holiday programmes are only around 10-15 minutes long. I could perhaps see Kelly-Ann Bishop present the full STV News at Six. Laura Goodwin presents the STV North News is Norman's absence, and I see Kelly-Ann and Laura as being quite similar in reporting and presenting styles.

Kelly-Ann I would think is more than capable of doing the 6pm slot, Mike Edwards as well could be another one that could do it.

One I forgot about about who I think would be more than able is Vicki Lee. And prob would be really good!

Why not get Dave Cowan in the studio - he is clearly capable as a journalist and not just totty?

Totty? Totty? How dare you be so sexist! I demand that you post a foto of said totty immediately, so that I can just verify how sexist you are actually being!!!!! Wink Wink Wink

Was watching the STV News at 6 from Aberdeen tonight. Norman McLeod was presenting and went to a political correspondent, Harry, standing outside the Houses of Parliament. Curiously although it was about ten past six, it seemed to be before six on Big Ben. They never said the interview was " live " but unless Big Ben was genuinely slow, I can't help feeling the viewers are being slightly mislead...

How do we all think on how Rachel McTavish did on presenting the 6pm West Edition tonight?

IMO I think she did well actually and would be a good stand in the future if John was ever off again.

She did really well, Gaz. I've always liked Rachel, since her days on the ITV News channel, then The Five Thirty Show.
I'm sure the bosses will keep her in mind next time John or Heather are off.

Yeah I think she has what's called the 'likeability factor'. I may get shot down in flames for saying this, however if Juliet hadn't of joined STV for the East News, I think Rachel would have been the ideal person for it.

She was excellent!

IMO I wonder why someone like that is aloud to be freelance! Again IMO I think she is actually better than Heather and even Louise.
