This year will be 5th year if it kept beyond May..

2nd of June 2014 is when the current set came about, so only 4 years come this June...

Always thought the STV set was pretty good, but then I'm not seeing it every day. Wouldn't be surprised though if they moved over to the newer STV News Tonight set - but although that looked good at launch it will probably date quicker.

I'd felt for a while that STV News Tonight was a test run to see if an STV Scottish Six might be worth a go. It doesn't seem to have had any impact though, either in terms of viewers (which was always going to be difficult given it's on STV2) or critically, and veers too much towards a Channel 4-esque news agenda.

I remain convinced that STV2 in its current form will be a thing of the past by the end of the year, with STV either handing back the licences or, more likely, running it cheaply to make sure no-one else can. The problem they have is climbing down from doing this show having made such a big deal of it. But the sad fact is that STV doesn't make enough good programmes to fill one channel, never mind two. Get the stuff that can work elsewhere on the main channel, maintain the local news commitment (you're paying for the staff to be there anyway) and get out of dodge.

I don't believe that to be the case, as there is already very little in terms of original programming on STV2. Apart from the various news broadcasts, you have Live At Five, Peter & Roughie's Football Show, The Late Show, The Saturday Football Show and that's really about it.

Basically, you have one channel being broadcast in 4 or 5 local areas, with all the income that brings in, from advertsing and sponsorship.

Congratulations to the team in Aberdeen, which is only in a very modest setup.

Seen this pic on Twitter and can’t help thinking that STV News, when they rebrand, should move into Studio 2 which is currently used for LIVE at FIVE. A set up similar to ITV News would be nice to see. It’s time STV moved to looking at modern and simple looking sets, instead of flashy and gimmicky.http://oi65.tinypic.com/2500z20.jpg

Loking at that picture, the setup of the windows would lend very well to an ITV Regional News esque set, but after five years, I think something slightly new would be nice.

Firstly that isn't Studio 2, it's not even studio one. There is another studio in the place that was used to other companies. That is somewhere on the main floor I think the second floor?
