No its not just the stuttering, as you said that may be as a result of the capture, it looks badly rendered and created. It feels clunky. The entire opening sequence looks really really badly designed and quite clunky. Unfortunately. Its simply not well done. For example the curved elements on the very opening elements before the headlines, you can actually see the that they arent exactly curved, you can see the straight points that join to form the curved sections. The curved light beams arent really curving with the other elements. Then the fact the graphics dont overlay over and reveal the B-Roll. They use a lens flare from the graphics to show the first headline. Then after the last headline, It jumps cuts to the graphics and they are frozen on a large curved bar then they are start to rotate. Then the images used are not curved to match the curvature of the spinning elements. they seemingly move at a different speed then the rest of the graphics. Its just not well done. Sorry.

The titles do not stutter. It's an intentional move, as they cut in time with the beat of the title music (which is one of the things that made me think CBS...).

Laura Miller has now returned. It also means she has to deal with STV news at ten on STV2, Aberdeen still deals with the 5min updates at 8pm and 9pm. Has Kelly ann left STV? Colins been doing GMB news for ages now.

I'm sure it was just before Christmas. She did mention it on Twitter before going on leave.

Bit of an error when Craig Millar name checked John (Mackay) twice on Friday evenings link reporting on President Obama's visit to Edinburgh. This (as is usually the case with the opening report) was also being linked to the Edinburgh and Aberdeen versions of the news.

We've got the main man from the North, Norman Macleod doing the GMB bulletins this morning on STV Central.

Nice to see him back doing them, I wonder if we will get Andrea doing the 6pm for all of Scotland.

We got Laura Miller from Edinburgh tonight over here in the West. I'm assuming North was business as usual.

STV News Tonight has been on air for 8 weeks now - but according to viewing figures from BARB, it hasn't really made much of an impact. The most amount of viewers it has had was on the 10th May, when 17,000 tuned in.

w/e 14th May: STV NEWS TONIGHT (WED 1900) - 17,000 (4th most watched)
w/e 30th May: STV NEWS TONIGHT (TUE 1900) - 12,000 (9th most watched)

It seems that since STV2 launched (well, added three new cities to its broadcast area) - it hasn't added viewers at all...

Looking at the tags for the new Scotland Tonight theme, it appears that it was composed by both Rage Music and Paul Leonard-Morgan rather than just Rage Music themselves.
