Just out of interest....

My Sky TV is not working at the moment so I have stuck the old ariel cable into the telly in the mean time and for some bizarre reason I get the Glasgow opt out even although I live in Fountainbridge in Edinburgh (ie. 5 mins from Edinburgh city centre) Anyone else get the wrong opt out on terrestial?

Which way is it pointing? Blackhill?

Thanks to the participants of the stv news forums, and in particular the mainstay of their daily blog, there is now a clip of Shereen Nanjiani's final bulletin on Scotland Today last year. For those Shereen fans out there, it is a rare moment.

Yeah, guys. I'm not saying you should defect from TVF, but all of you Scotland Today/North Tonight watchers should get over to the stv forums. It's getting kinda lively now. Cool

Easy way is to check the aerial on top of the building. If it faces north then it receives from Craigkelly, which does the Edinburgh opt-out; if it points west then it's facing Blackhill, which does the Glasgow opt-out.

I think they probably will to be honest. STV News has been coming for a long time now. I don't like the thought of it either but everyone has to adapt to change. However, I think they would keep both North and South seperate - maybe even longer opts/seperate editions for sub regions.

That said it could also be:
- A new UTV LIve format with a half hour lifestyle slot before the news. This would counter the popular opinion at the minute that media companies only provide a bare minimum, plus would hark back to the era of ST's old lunchtime news format. Border could also get a look in but it is doubtful. Although it means we in Scotland would miss the Anthony Cotton show. Shame!
- The studio is getting a cheeky wee revamp or being restyled,
- ST move to the Scotsport couch area (unrealistic), or
- They are going to re-style the shows format, having a joint bulletin either co-presented from Aberdeen/Inverness or Edinburgh/Glasgow - unlikely though, due to costs. It could also be going back to ye olde fashioned 2-presenter format and no more "opt on a stick".

However time shall tell what the future of news will look like at SMG Wink

This is not as dramatic as some of you might be imagining. It will not involve name changes.

We will simply be doing something a little differently.

I expect to be in a position to confirm tomorrow.

That goodness for that.

Full details will emerge tomorrow [Friday], but your weather on stv news will be delivered very differently as from next week.

Maybe an actual weather forecaster infront of the map?
