It was such a refreshing change to have Kirstin Gove solo anchor North Tonight a few weeks ago. I wish this would happen more often, instead of Andrea Brymer dominating the main presenting role.
As I switched on to tonight’s edition, the sports preview was about GLASGOW Rangers, followed by a report from EDINBURGH, then another from GLASGOW, both with Scottish Television reporters. I then turned it off. What has happened to “we understand local matters”. It is high time Ofcom started to monitor Grampian’s news output, as it is clearly ONE news schedule for all of Scotland now. It is not surprising there have been complaints in the local press about the news programmes since the channel became STV.
I personally find Kirsten aloof and stuffy. She is a good journalist though; however, I think you need to remember the Kirsten Gove and Sarah Mack war. I do not think that either did themselves a favours in the early 2000s. Many say that if Kirsten was chocolate she would eat herself...but that is taking it a bit too far.
Andrea does not seem as hostile and is much more friendly in her presenting tone. Andrea also gets on well with the team and has decent banter with Tyrone and co. North Tonight can be as bland as watching paint dry, so it is good to have Andrea and Chris to inject some life into the programme.
I just hope you take some chill pill when North Tonight becomes a version of Scotland Today.
However, I agree with the Ibrox live report...not really relevant to the north.

Heather Simpson finally got a chance to front the programme tonight. I thought she done very well. She seemed very relaxed and comfortable.
