It was great to see Chris Harvey back presenting again at the weekend. I wish they would stop using that camera shot in capture 2, it is too plain.
I cannot believe that Grampian's Kirsten,Pauline and Chris, have been sidelined from presenting North Tonight, in favour of ex Scottish Television part- timer Andrea Brymer.

We've heard the 'We hate Andrea' arguement before.
The fact of the matter is she is popular with many stv north viewers and has a personality. Sadly, not everyone at Tullos has a bubbly one and it can be like watching paint dry at times.

That piece was also broadcast on North Tonight. However, as no complaint was made to Ofcom, Grampian Television is not in breach of any code. Wink

Gordon MacMillan from Scottish Television in Glasgow is now in charge of all news across Scotland, after the departure of Craig Wilson, the current Head of News at Grampian. Central Belt Tonight, here we come.
Almost all Grampian personnel have not been allowed to anchor the main edition of North Tonight for several months now, and with central belt reporters never off Grampian screens, it is more like Scotland Today as each week passes. We are slowly getting to the stage where the main bulletin will come from Glasgow; with a few minutes opt out from Aberdeen.

SMG/STV is one company and Andrea started working for them in 1994 as a reporter .She then went on very quickly to Presenting bulletins then on to Lunchtime and somtimes the main edition of Scotland Today. She has more experience and been in the company longer than the others Chris and Pauline didn't appear on the scene until about 2000. I know that Kirsten has been there a while but Norman and Andrea are the longest serving Presenters .Norman is very dour and wooden My favs are Kirsten,Andrea and Chris (Chris is the totty ) Wink

how much money does STV spend on News compared to BBC ?

probably less given the licence fee for the bbc. but it's how they use the money in comparison that's important! I see RS are trying out new things like more reporters in the studio and there seem to be new faces. But ST still have the edge, they're more viewer friendly. The budget reporting was much better than RS who were dull dull dull. I think the graphics on ST have really improved as well. When do the bbc move? Will there be another overhaul of set and titles or the way they do news?

No they haven't. Everything is still at Queen Margaret Drive, there are only a handful of staff (non-news) currently at Pacific Quay, and it's still a hard-hat area while technical fit-out continues.

So why is Reporting Scotland being broadcast from a whole new look studio?
