I don't like this Mico region, the way there going there end up like the CRAP English newsroom talking about some some lady dancing or something,

What a ridiculous statement! I don't ever recall a feature on North East Tonight about a dancing woman.

Scotland Today rules ! Very Happy

SCOTLAND TODAY has massively improved since the relaunch, and even though I confess to STILL missing fab females that vanished from our screens beforehand - I think the team have done a fantastic job trying to cope with the much and ever increasing workload. Wink It's likely that we'll still see maybe one or two teething problems, but at least we can be rest assured that they will be rectified. The banter between John, Louise, Heather an co. has returned to way it was, before all the redundances occurred. I don't know about anyone else but John has also shown that there is life at Scotland Today after Shereen! Smile His leadership, charm, with and sense of humour prove it.

REPORTING SCOTLAND on the other hand is just the same as always. It tends to dull and boring after a while, they really should look at ST and find out how to really turn the heads of faithful viewing audience. The only good thing about watching RS is when David is on-air with Sally and I've forgotten who the other lassie is Embarassed (not Jackie, the other one) - oh what's her name again? Shocked

As Anne MacKenzie fan correctly pointed out it was your post I should have been referring to earlier. Why don't you start a thread entirely devoted to Shereen..... This is about Scotland Today.....not Scotland Yesterday Laughing

Back to the local news idea. I think there is a worry it does all become a bit small town. I'd asked before but no one has said yet - does anyone know how much of the main programme it will take up?

Absolute tripe - Reporting Scotland wins for serious news. If you like your news dressed up in a tabloid style package then yes Scotland Today is your winner. Happy New Year! Smile

How do you define 'serious' news? Does it have to be politicians talking about other politicians? Does it have to be stories on Scottish Opera?

I would say Scotland Today covers these stories, but in a more accessible way, but beyond that beats the BBC hands down on the big stories - major crime stories etc.

I would take the point if BBC Scotland were doing some hard-hitting investigations or unveiling some major exclusives, but my main problem is that the vast majority of their output depends on what press release they've been sent that day.

You said it p_c_u_k! Laughing You've hit it right bang on the nail there, about BBC Scotland and their Press Release nonsense. Wink

Couldn't agree more Killie Kingdom. If the Scottish Executive punts it then RS run it. ST sets their own agenda. ST reporters and indeed presenters do everything in a much more interesting way. Much more viewer friendly. And no it's not necessarily more tabloid just simply - better tv news. Going back to the west/east report they did for the local news opts - ok some people didn't like it but RS would never do anything as lively and fun and engaging. I know a lot of you out there don't have much time for Steven Jardine but he's certainly more watchable than David R and while Heather is fairly new she's much warmer than Jackie and has a certain something. John has aauthority in delivery as well. I think, and hope, they'll manage the local news issue well without detracting from what a great programme they have. sorry rant over....

I noticed earlier that Scotland Today was in glorious widescreen (albeit with a 'www.stv.tv' DOG in the bottom right).

Also, apparently STV have joined the 'Cropping to 16:9' club for the ITV News.
