Is anyone else slightly reminded of the old ITV News colour scheme?

This must be the first thing stv have done right and can be proud of in years. It's better than the itv regions IMO.

It certainly is and John is more authoritive as a sole anchor. I like this idea. He is the Huw Edwards of Scotland afterall. NT is great as well. This must be the best make over we've had in Aberdeen!!

Does STV have invision weather presenters like we do on Border?

Missed the earlier bulletin, but I take it Vicky Lee is the same Vicky Lee of XFM Scotland fame (there's pictures on the XFM Scotland website if you look under the news section and 'meet the news team').

My only other note - thank Christ they got rid of the elevator music on the weather.

Not any more. The last in-vision weather presenter was Lloyd Quinan about 10 years ago, who's now an SNP MSP. We get crappy hi-tech (five years ago) computer graphics with a fly-through (which looks like what the BBC do nowadays zooming through the country).

Here's Louise's turn at the desk:

Slighty disappointed that they don't seem to have a titles sting for short bulletins. They just came straight out of the ITV News sting to the image of the desk and presenter.

EDIT: My mistake, they do have a sting, just didn't use it. It was used in the Lunchtime show (.rv format - 1.37MB). Sorry about the awful quality - haven't worked out how to resize yet.

He quite politics about 2 and a half years ago. Wonder what he's up to now. Anyway, yeah.. that's the other thing. The legendary Scottish TV fly-through forecast is no more. They seem to have changed the main 6.30 weather. Tonight it went right up to Thursday, but without the usual "let's take a closer look at Largs" style flythrough - which I always used to find amusing. Shame.

She suits the role just sitting there too! Razz I do hope Louise deputises for John when he's off - Louise really is an excellent newsreader, who has the same sense of humour as John. Wink .

Anyone notice the big green blob behind john on the floor at the desk during the lunchtime bulletin...A reflection of the screen? really like the whole stv look, very nice indeed. I think on the whole apart from a few minor niggles its probably one of the best regional news studios in the UK as it lends itself to both professionalism and accessibility to the viewers, yet still retains a bright and authoritative feel. Well done SMG! The "weathergirl" was Debi Edward...quite like the fact that they have a weatherperson (of sorts at least) now on the main show. And that view over the clyde = fantastic! Pat on the back all round. Very Happy

I think the pink is a bit daft. I would prefer something like this:
