I would love Miss Shereen Nanjiani to move out here to Dubai, where the local media scene is thriving. There are several new channels being launched right now, and Dubai Media City ensures that all services needed by any broadcast outlet are catered for efficiently.

The ex-pat community is now large enough to warrant recognised media faces from the UK to service its demand. (I am not speaking here of the mammoth scale of AJI, by the way, but more regional channels).

So, Miss Nanjiani, if you happen to be reading this, please take Emirates flight EK043 (?) from Glasgow. It would be an honour for us to have you come here as part of the local tv scene.........

One can but dream.........

Yes Shereen will be deeply missed - she IS Scotland Today. The programme will never be the same without her. Is it highly likely she will be eventually poached by Reporting Scotland?

Sadly, I doubt Shereen would switch channels. I think that she'll ditch TV News altogether. Her comments were based along the lines of leaving - as she was unhappy with Scotland's media landscape! That is what was said by both PA and The Scotsman.
I would like to see her on any channel - but I think when she says goodnight on Scotland Today - it'll be last time we see her do a news programme!
Sarah Heaney's future seems brighter, but she is a mere beginner!

Thought Shereen was going to SKY News?.

I hope that you are right matey!!
I would be more than happy to eat my words on this occasion. Shereen is a superstar, and is FAR BETTER than many fronting a London-based service.

Not long to go for Sarah. Her last day at STV is on Friday. I believe Shereen finishes up on the first week of May.

That is not long at all!!
Can you or anyone shed some light on what will become of them? Some folk say that Sarah is destined for GMTV after taking time out to be a mum. As you can see, some say that Shereen is heading to SKY News? Is this just pure speculation?

Maybe SKY is considering a SKY News Scotland opt. It's very plausable. I worked at SKY News when the Ireland service was launched and it was widely reported that SKY would consider a Scottish service if Ireland was successful. While the Irish opt hasn't exactly swept the boards, one thing it has done is force RTE and TV3 to up the game a little. For example, RTE is now much better at coping with breaking news than ever before. There's also the fact that around 3 of Ireland's best known presenters moved over to Sky and that's now easily done as they've all left STV! Put it this way, if Shereen was to become the face of SKY News Scotland and a good team was assembled (including the current SKY Scotland reporters) it would definitely be a far superior product to what we currently get with STV and BBC Scot!!!

I agree...considering that Scotland Today, North Tonight and Reporting Scotland have gone down the pan!!
This is more plausable than her moving to London. If she is still going out with Mark Smith, I think any move south would depend on personal circumstances and not necessarily be career orientated.

I hope a Sky News Scotland would come about, I think it would more than beat Reporting Scotland and ST. Shereen would be ideal for the job - better than the likes of some untalented Scottish presenters that grace our screens! I'm just making up excuses so Shereen doesn't disappear from our screens.

I was rather reluctant to join this forum, but after seeing the comments made in this thread, I am really glad I jumped aboard.
To say that Shereen Nanjiani always seems to be overshadowed by her co-presenters, I am delighted that so many people appreciate a fantastic journalist when they see one.
Shereen is more than capable to stick within the industry. I have spoken to London journalists tonight, and they are actually amazed that Shereen stayed so loyal to Scottish TV. One said that they had seen her in the late eighties and thought big things would follow.
I can only hope that a) Shereen tries to stay within the industry and b) SKY, BBC, ITV and Al Jazeera - indeed CNN look at hiring this consumate professional. While I like both Kirsty Wark and Young (and I seriously mean that) Shereen was more down to earth and had more of a level par rappore with the viewer. Even compared to my namesake - you could never get the impression that Miss Nanjiani was aloof.

Ann MacKenzie Fan,

Your closing comments above are spot-on. There is no way at all that Miss Shereen Nanjiani could ever be described as aloof, and one point that has continued to float around the threads written on the subject of SN is that she has an immense sense of connectivity with the viewer.

Put simply, if they forgot (they have done several times in the past) to put her name strap on the screen at the top of the bulletin, it wouldn;t matter, as every living soul watching the programme would automatically know who the lady is. That could not be said for most of her fellow presenters.

As mentioned by all of you above, and not wanting this to become a corny, slushy and over sugary thread, I do sincerely hope that one of the broadcasters sees sense and makes a quick move to secure Miss Nanjiani as an employee. I am sure that several have already made approaches.

For what it's worth, though, I don't see a move to Sky or CNNI or AJ as likely.

I must agree with one of the previous posts. While I believe Shereen would almost definitely become the face of Sky Scotland if it launched I don't believe she'll move to a London based service. I actually also think it would be a bad move for her. She reflects Scottishness and I don't know if her style would work elsewhere. Let's all just hope that she gets the move we're all hoping for to the BBC or to a new SKY opt.

It pains me to disagree with you, as I am on your wave length. However, on this occasion I would have to say that Shereen would certainly be able to pack a punch amongst the London big wigs.
She has vast experience of 'big stories' and would be as Scottish as haggis and irn bru in any environment.
Huw Edwards is still the true Welshman despite hosting a UK-wide bulletin, as is Eamonn Holmes a true Ulsterman while being an anchor for SKY and GMTV.
While I think that (if she does even want to remain in the industry) she'd stay in Scotland - I for one would like to see her try a London-based programme. Like I have said before Shereen is the sort who'd put her personal life before her career. That will be a big factor in whatever happens to 'Scotland's news queen'.
