In a shock press release, STV have announced the new permanent presenters who are to take over from Shereen Nanjiani, Sarah Heaney and Jane Lewis on the flagship Scotland Today programme.

Above, from left to right: Mary Mack (replaces Nanjiani), Dorothy Paul (Heaney) and Arthur Montford (to replace Jane Lewis on the Sports Desk).

STV apparently did a vox-pop in the Glasgow Barras, and the results revealed that viewers felt it was time for a return to good old Scottish media values, and felt that it was only right that three legends of the newsroom were replaced by other legends, as opposed to part-timers who don't have a clue!

When asked about her new role, former Soprano Dorothy Paul commented: " Sarah Heaney will be a hard act to follow. But, I will dae ma best, and if I find the going is too tough, I will ask my pal, Elaine C. Smith, to stand in for a couple of nights ." She continued " Actually, Mrs. Mack has the hardest joab of all of us. I mean, how can anyone replace Narinji Sharinji??? That wumman is a legend, and Mary Mack is sh*tting hersel' tryin' to handle the teleprompt thing ."

Montford was less verbal on the subject. " McStay. Strachan. McStay. Goal. Stramash .", he said.

STV also revealed that the new Scotland Today will be sponsored by " Barrs Irn Bru ", with the Sports Segment being sponsored by " Halls Square Sausage ".

Mary Mack was unavailable for comment, as she had an important appointment at the hat shop today.

(Light hearted fun. Don't anyone dare start complaining.)

It may frighten you to know that I was almost the red-haired "Halls of Broxburn boy" when I was a youngster, but the gig went to someone else.

So now you know.

This cropped up on my mind, because there's never enough time on the 6pm show/Lunchtime bulletin to do a really good tribute to the remaining two which are set to leave very shortly Crying or Very sad .

*SHEREEN NANJIANI: A TRIBUTE TO A SCOTTISH TV NEWS LEGEND

*JANE LEWIS: A TRIBUTE TO(still thinking of a sub-title for this bit)

Both tributes to be similar to the Jinky film.

This might seem a really daft idea, but it's something that I've had on my mind for a while now. I'd thought I'd share it with you all. Do you think I'm overdoing it a bit? I'll back down if u think I am . Sad

It's almost time to get out the hankies, as we say an UNOFFICIAL farewell to Jane. Sad Her OFFICIAL leaving day is Mon - so that's when most living rooms across the region will be flooded with tears. Sad

Tune in and see if John and the gang, will have anything lined up for her at 6pm. I don't think they will, as she officially leaves on Monday - but then again - you never know. Wink

They may also have a leaving do, when they finish their shift.

You know when you asked if you were overdoing it a wee bit?
