Ahhhhh I do understand! I take a media studies class at school that involves issues that affect the world thanks and I do very well in it. and understand lots of issues from around the world and have my own views on things such as this. IM not a child.

Then u should realise that 90% of people on this board are fanatics who can't see past who presented on News 24 at 3pm.

Don't bother trying to argue with them, cause they're <sarcasm>always</sarcasm> right.

Right - to end the argument here.

1) The police acted wrongly, and have apologised to Menezes family.
2) If YOU were followed by someone with a gun, wouldn't you run?
3) We don't know the full facts. Did the police identify themselves?
4) It was a tragedy, but it may happen again.
5) Not all the news channels reported the same story.
6) Yes, the bombs and attempt bombings were horrible, but face facts, it's gonna happen a lot more often (according to Sir Ian Blair).
7) It was nearly three weeks ago, and one week ago, that they (or tried to) go off, and still we blame the police ?

Get a life guys, and smell the coffee. Menezes was NOT a suspect, the police were just using their "Shoot to Kill" tactic - albeit contiversal. How did the police know that he wasn't hiding bombs under his jacket?

Now, all calm down, and have a look at news in depth.

1) The police are instructed to shoot to kill. It was not their fault they were given intellegence to follow the wrong man.
2) If somebody chased me with a gun I would do whatever the hell they wanted me too.
3)Probably. Police have to identify themselves before they shoot. If they did not, then they were in the wrong.
4) It probably will.
5)But all agree the man was innocent.
6) Exactly. Copycat bombings, and ones from the same cell. Therefore, they must shoot suspects, to avoid another 60 odd people being killed.
7)I do not. I think they acted extremely well, and that they were certainly in the right to open fire on a person who refused to stop, although very sad that he was not a terrorist (however he was not exactly innocent, he refused to stop).

An apology to the family is nothing.

1) The police acted wrongly, and have apologised to Menezes family. Its Murder, Apologies do nothing
2) If YOU were followed by someone with a gun, wouldn't you run? I would run
3) We don't know the full facts. Did the police identify themselves? Maybe who knows, not many seem to know
4) It was a tragedy, but it may happen again. True, meaning killing more innocent people if thats the case
5) Not all the news channels reported the same story. I heard 4 different stories, not sure which to believe to be perfectly honest.
6) Yes, the bombs and attempt bombings were horrible, but face facts, it's gonna happen a lot more often (according to Sir Ian Blair). Old Man, DOnt like him much
7) It was nearly three weeks ago, and one week ago, that they (or tried to) go off, and still we blame the police? No comment

Might I suggest that this "discussion" be ended here, and moved somewhere more appropriate off TV Forum?

And Dog, might I suggest to you that be less of an ignorant tósser, that you try to realise that this child has an extremely narrow and naïve view of the world, and that not wanting to get drawn into a pointless circular argument with someone who cannot grasp the reasoning and logic being explained because it doesn't fit into whatever strange and inflexible morality doctrine being preached by the hallowed and "wise" professor does not automatically make people immovable, indisputable fanatics who refuse to be proved wrong?

There's no point in arguing with the child, because he doesn't grasp the conflicting rights and wrongs of the situation. He refuses to see the situation in anything other black and white, an absolute right versus an absolute wrong. The severity and naïveté of his language demonstrates an absolute state of mind that won't be reasoned with, so there seems little usefulness in labouring the same points over and over again to deaf ears. I fail to see why this makes the rest of us so reprehensible.

Anyway, enough of this boIIocks. Take it somewhere else - it doesn't belong here.

yet you accompany your post with a smiley face?

Get a grip, I'd suggest you take this to Metropol but I don't want to see the place stained with idiots like you, it would ruin the *fabulous* karma

From what I can see, you are the worst. You think it is your place to criticise other members instead of just leaving it to the mods (or reporting it to them at least, through the proper channels).

It is not your place to tell users what not to post, even if you are acting for the rules of the board, even if you do have about 3500 posts.

But, I do see your point, perhaps there should be more moderators, and perhaps you should stand for the job. Then you will be able to ban users who you believe are ruining the karma of the site! Laughing

Well as the "poster" who started this thread with the intentions of discussing the way the news channels were airing and presenting as the news was unfolding , I do feel that this topic has gone way off-course and should therefore be closed - that's all I have to say in the matter.
