Why do you assume (like Noggin) that his employment would be terminated?

I wasn't making an assumption - I was questioning the assumption that he had quit the BBC, rather than finding alternate employment because the BBC were ceasing to employ him widely on a freeelance basis.

You had made the assumption that if he hadn't moved to AJI he would have continued to work at the BBC - which with his significantly reduced on-air role within the BBC over the last year or two seemed a weaker assumption to me.

(And like many people here I chose not to reveal everything I know about some situations)

I'll never forgive her for being the reason why Phil left.

I think that's a rather odd statement. You don't know the full ins and outs of it clearly, the point is that Philip Hayton couldn't gel with her because maybe she had less journalistic experience than he. And wasn't it HIM who said "I don't like you" to her?

He actually stormed off before shouting "I'm not working with her, It's me or her!"

I was disgusted with the very public way Hayton conducted his "frustration" but simply put it was a clash of old school and new presenting. He took her to task on the informal and relaxed nature of her presentation.

I actually thought the opposite. From reading the interview he gave to the Guardian and other reports at the time, all quotes from Hayton simply talked about a personality clash and not getting on, with him saying that Kate would agree.

Further on in the report it was mentioned about her air-headedness, which was in a quote from Silverton's agent in defence, saying Hayton was being snobby - yet Hayton made no mention of this himself.

Yes, we know he was thinking it (aren't we all) but there was certainly no nasty interviews from him or insults in public - he simply said they didn't get on. I thought it was quite polite and dignified, considering.

I have a feeling that this might be off-topic though.

And Dunedin, sort yourself out. Your comments are becoming wildly sweeping and moronic. What makes you think that his contract didn't run out, or maybe the BBC forecast he was going to AJ? Get a grip, and get your head out of your arse.

Can you read Jamei. I will write it in BOLD so you get it this time. PHILIP HAYTON QUIT OVER DIFFERENCES WITH HIS ON SCREEN PARTNER, HIS ON SCREEN PARTNER WAS SILVERTON - THEREFORE SHE IS THE REASON HE LEFT.

Don't patronise me when you can't even spell my username right.

If he doesn't get on with his on screen partner, then is it not his fault for being such a stroppy cow that he leaves the BBC because he can't bring his head out of his arse to present with her?

It is his fault that he left the BBC - his decision, he was not forced out in any way. Don't shout at me again, child.

Indeed. Cat, you obviously don't have a partner, children and a mortgage to support...

Erm, no, I don't but then we aren't talking about me, are we. AFAIK, the Emir of Qatar wouldn't be too keen on hiring someone in my line of work.

I also had no idea about the salary and associated bonuses that AJ were offering. I still think it says a lot about the journalists there if they are prepared to put money over the stuff they are actually reporting.

Well, what I meant was, it's terribly easy to have high-minded principles if you're young, free and single - but if you have a partner, kids and mortgage to support, sometimes you have to put them ahead of any such principles - I know it's a compromise, but, hey, that's life.
