A quick question, there is often talk of a "Scottish Six" because they feel half the news is irrelevant north of the border, but during election campaigns what do viewers in Northern Ireland make of the national news. Rather than half being irrelevant, it's almost entirely irrelevant, you can't move for the SNP being mentioned on the national news, but NI politics is barely ever mentioned and of course there is no NI Lab or Con.

Oh, it's incredibly frustrating. If politics on the mainland worked in the same way as politics here, there'd be public and media outrage. During the whole election campaign, I remember seeing one single report on the NI situation on network BBC. And it was more of a 'feature' report than anything substantial about policy.

Come 4am tomorrow morning though, that could all change.

I'll be watching BBC or Sky mainly throughout the night, but I do like ITV's title sequence and lead-up to the exit poll . . .

Dimbleby already grumpy, not happy about Sunderland's sound meaning they missed half the result

Rightly so. The full breakdown of the results was available on Wikipedia whilst they still grumbled about not hearing the results.

Interesting that they've got Amol Rajan in the BBC studio doing the 'social media watch' that Laura K did in 2015. It was widely thought then that this was a role cooked up for Laura to have her in the studio partly as a stand-by for the still-recovering Nick Robinson and partly to give her a test run as Political Editor on election night.

Obviously the same doesn't apply to Rajan, but the BBC do clearly want to have somebody to be there especially to be 'across' social media and Rajan is an experienced print journalist so brings a further perspective to proceedings.

I don't think it's been stated enough by BBC that the John Curtice exit poll was surprising both in 2010 (especially regards the Lib Dem result) and 2015, yet was pretty on-the-nail both times. Therefore, I'm willing to trust it this time, too. If it follows a similar path to 2015, then we may well see a few more Con seats than predicted, and see a slight Con majority.

I can see them in this thread without a problem. The images came from OneDrive if that helps.

Sophie Raworth being astoned as "Political Correspondent" while reporting from the Sunderland count - I guess that's just a generic title for the purposes of tonight?

Flicking around the various coverages tonight; Sky seems very quick paced with wonderful presentation, BBC News being very thorough which isn't necessarily a bad thing, ITV being quite analytical - especially with the media hub with specialists from twitter and google interpreting the data they is being published and searched for tonight.

Probably because you're logged into OneDrive with an account that has permission to see the images. The rest of us aren't.
