There is a ridiculous amount of election programming this week on the BBC. The main debate and 3 episodes of Question Time, not to mention the interviews and anything that may be happening in the nations. Even the most politics hungry viewer may be tired by the time Sturgeon and Farron walk on stage on Sunday.

The debate should maybe have aired last week (although of course due to events it wouldn't have actually aired) and maybe the 3 Question Times reduced in number.

Probably not a coincidence that it's during BGT live week. Get them all out while everyone is watching the other side...

Paxman was awful with Corbyn - concentrated far too much on comments he made decades ago rather than current policy. He was far less agressive with May and concentrated purely on the manifesto and Mays recent history.

I don't know what debate you were watching, but the one I saw, he held both leaders to account on personal views on things like Brexit and migration (TM) and the IRA (JC) and party policies and manifestos.

Yes, he held TM to account on things relevant to this election and JC to account on things with absolutely no relevance at all.

If the ridiculous amount of election debates this week already mentioned isn't enough, I'd forgotten the English Regions debates air at 10:45 tonight.

If all the local debates are as badly managed and cover as few local issues as the East Midlands one they are a total waste of licence fee money.

Last night they had those on BBC1 while BBC2 was airing a joint Newsbeat/Newsnight debate at the same time which actually was quite an interesting spin on things concentrating on the generation gap.

Clive Myrie is anchoring the News channel's live coverage of the BBC Election debate build up from Cambridge at 7-7:30pm tonight and the analysis from 9-9:30pm in the press spin room.

Also, do keep an eye out in the background in the spin room. Wink

curious that they chose to timeshift it - especially given the Great British Menu was on at 19.30 in the rest of the UK.
