I'm curious as to what's the reasoning for ITV to host the leaders debate in Media City? Surely there's a stage open in London or in TLS with built in audience seating. Or is this done to avoid London bias?
I know ITV has several floors in The Orange building but I am right to assume that there is no studio presence of their own (aside from news)? So I guess they will rely on dock10's 12,500 sq ft studio HQ1.

ITV dont have any big studios, that why there moved to Media City so there can rent when needed. Its like STV, it has two small studios which covers basic stuff but if there want to make big show or gameshows there just go next door to the BBC.

Shame as he was pretty rubbish last time round - would rather see The Last Leg have an extended special.
Jeremy Paxman is to host Channel 4 ‘Alternative Election Night’ coverage again.

They do, Studio 1 at TLS, and to be fair, studio 2 would probably be adequate as well. They obviously decided to do it at Media City for a reason, probably to avoid everything having to be in London.

I though we were talking about the north. The last three ITV held were all held in Manchester, and that respect there dont own any large studios. Of course in there do with TLS.
When is the Tory party launching its manifesto, that when the TV news operations will go in to overtime.

I genuinely believe it's unlikely Huw Edwards will get the General Election gigs now. Either Andrew Neil will host post Dimbleby or or Paxman will be back at the corperation doing QT and Election Nights. Watching some of the local election coverage the other weeks shows whilst competent Edwards lacks that glint in the eye and sense of humour making required to make the long hours more watchable.

Yes, it's the latter. As mentioned, the first time they did the debates in 2010, the three of them were deliberately staged across the country - one in the North, one in the Midlands and one in the South - to allow them to better reflect the whole of the UK. And all election coverage for many years has always made a point of travelling across the country. It's why Question Time comes from a different place every week.

They are, but not overnight. They're doing a 2 hour 'The Results' episode on the Friday, as well as another 2 hour one the week after that for the Jo Cox memorial day, a 'ReUnited Kingdom' special.
Also added to Alt Election Night as a host this year is Richard Osman.
