Well Andrew Neil only really did the last one - before that despite being a BBC face he generally turned up on ITV on election nights.

I suspect the full teams are far from confirmed yet - probably see more details really over the next week or so.

I don't think Huw is the right person to present election coverage, and it kind of feels like it will never be him presenting. Maybe it's like someone said - he's "just" the main news anchor, whereas Dimbleby is sort of elevated above that status.

I'd love to see either Fiona Bruce or Kirsty Young take over from Dimbleby, personally.

Or what about someone like Christian Fraser? I'd put my money on him doing more prominent election coverage presentation in the not too distant future. He does seem to be one of BBC News' rising younger males at the moment.

One thing I have noticed, it may be because of the relatively surprise news of the election being called, is that BBC/ITV/Sky don't seem to have yet assigned correspondents to follow a particular party (eg. In 2015 Carl Dinnen followed Labour, James Mates Conservatives and Emily Morgan Lib Dem) Will that be happening on this occasion do we know or will it be a case of everyone covering a bit of every party as/when required?

Parliament is still sitting, and nominations for candidates are still open, so we're not really in the full campaign period yet.

He did do that ill-fated BBC boat party in 2010, so I'd say he was a full part of the 2010 team, before he took on the 'Paxman' role last time round.

What is it about Dimbleby? Since I've only had access to World News since about 2010 I've seen him anchor election night. In the most recent referendum coverage (to me atleast) he seemed disinterested and tired. Maybe he just doesn't know when to end it or is it the BBC feeling that they need to have him on to continue the tradition of his father?

Now maybe if I saw him more regularly like if Question Time was carried internationally I'd have a different opinion.

I remembered him on a boat but thought that was with ITV.

He has gravitas, that's the main thing. He makes it sound important.

ITV did a boat in 2005 - might Neil have done that boat party too?

Hardly anyone knows who he is.

Personally I would have liked it if Nick Robinson was still part of the coverage.

He may well be involved in Radio 4. Have they confirmed who their line-up will be? Is Jim Naughtie still involved?
