Noticed today on the 8:25 and 8:55am bulletins on Breakfast that Spotlight's breakfast bulletins from Plymouth did not appear on BBC1 South West, but strangely did appear on BBC1 Channel Islands - both times on BBC1 South West we got BBC London News - meanwhile over on BBC1 CI, the Spotlight bulletin went on as usual.

Also, there appeared to be a new newsreader on Spotlight this morning. Lisa Cole I think her name was... not sure where she's come from, but she'll probably be presenting the lunchtime bulletin as well.

It MIGHT be something to do with the full split for the 18:30 programme, James.

The last couple of days the WHOLE of the 18:30 has been split away to cover the Island Games.

The 22:30 is fully split anyway, so perhaps some switches got left in the wrong position in Plymouth?

Victoria Graham presented the lunchtime edition of Spotlight.

Seems to be lots of opting probs today then(?) Here in South East Today land we were left with no end headlines to the 1 o'clock then a blank screen eventually joining South Today instead. Rolling Eyes

It probably is something to do with Spotlight CI going for the full 30 minutes at 6.30 because of the Island Games.

On another note - I've been told that Spotlight CI move into their new studio at BBC Radio Jersey in Parade Road on Monday 18 August - last bulletin from the garage at Fremont will be 15 August.

Sorry if I'm not thinking straight here, the heat's getting to me a bit - but if CI opted out last night how come BBC1 CI got the programme from Plymouth as normal today, meanwhile on the main BBC South West transmission (actually from Plymouth), they got London news?

Who's switches were in the wrong position?

The Channel Islands and Plymouth BBC One versions are generated independently in Plymouth - so if the opt-switch for the Plymouth version were not operating (or had failed-safe back to London for some reason) there is no reason to expect the Channel Islands switch to fail similarly.

That's good news. I hope that the BBC start to give Channel some proper competition, as Channel have had it too easy over the years.

Just to correct my original post - the new Spotlight newsreader was Amy Cole - not Lisa Cole - and she was covering the bulletins this morning as well.

Can't find any details on her - does anyone know anything about her?
