Probably only one for the CI residents among us - or the really annoraky - but which do you prefer of Spotlight CI and Channel Report?

What do you think about the new Spotlight presenter - Gwyn Garfield-Bennet and the backdrop to the studio?

From an anorak's point of view, I prefer Spotlight CI simply because it isn't totally corporate like it's ITV counter-part.

Spotlight CI - do errors like this happen all the time though? Confused And from what I've watched of Ms Garfield, she seems OK but I've only ever seen her whilst recording the cap lol

Channel Report - I quite like the set but it looked better using the squares of the 2004 ITV look. Can't really say much else about it.

No mistakes like that don't happen all the time - ouch.

There's a full time director now instead of it being done by one of the VJs

So do we know this full-time director by any chance?

Not somebody who used to work on the CI websits?

As a viewer, I think Spotlight is the better of the two overall, mainly because i don't particularly like the cosy almost GMTV style of presenting on Channel Report. I just want the news delivered in a professional way with no crap, which is what Spotlight does. Gwyn-GB is a presenter worthy of the nationals too, she's very good. Plus i think with somewhere as small as the Channel Islands, a 10 minute slot works better than a full half hour.

Channel wins hands down though for technical quality and general presentation. But then their team is so much bigger than Spotlights.

To be pedantic, Channel Report isn't quite *totally* corporate. It still doesn't have the official generic style studio set, nor animating namestraps.

They really should've re-upholstered the sofabench with teal fabric, when they "repainted" the rest of the set teal. That blue sofa sticks out like a sore thumb, and matches nothing.

The set definately looked better in the "blue"/"four squares" version. The backdrop of lots of "blue monochrome" (if you see what I mean) images of CI locations, with an overlaid "squares" effect was much more interesting than what it's been replaced with:

That desk was also better in blue and yellow, albeit that it looked almost as if it were a cast-off from the "compromise" set that Central News (West) had when they first had the Generic Look Mk 1 titles etc, but didn't yet have the official set.
