Well i hope you can give Channel some decent competition. Smile Their news bulletins aren't worth watching.

Nice little piece on the history of the Fremont opt tonight.

I'll look forward to the St Helier version on Monday.

Sadly, the best bit of tonight's edition was when they "collided" with Plymouth, rather than opting back, and joined Hamish on a motorway bridge, sporting a nineteen-eighties BBC logo on his luminous jacket.

What was interesting was seeing the Fiona Spur days, and seeing just how little her studio was. No bigger than a broom closet! I can imagine the current one being not that much bigger. Looking forward to seeing the new one though.

I really like Spotlight CI. Ok their technical quality is not exactly perfect, but they don't bugger about with all the comfy "Hi, how are you, we're your friend" type stuff that Channel do. It's more suited to the old ladies Channel I think. The BBC say the news as it is, and leave. Nothing more nothing less, and that's how i like the news. I find their news far more interesting to watch as well. If their technical quality improves once they're in their new studio i think they'll have a very good overall news service.

Indeed, Ben.

The key to television in the islands, whichever side, is that it's equivalent to community radio on the mainland. The lady who won the "How many items in a matchbox" competition at the Women's Institute IS important and worth reporting.

Long live Spotlight AND Channel Report, I say.

Oh yes definitely. I'm not saying by any means get rid or change Channel Report. It's just that it's not designed for me, and i know it isn't. The BBC do the service I like, and that's fine. Channel is going to appeal a lot more to a certain group of people, and that's great. Just as long as i don't have to watch it Razz

Sounds good.

Do you have a rough idea on the kind of viewing figures Spotlight CI gets? It must be quite a big number to warrant a brand new studio like this.

What I will say is that it's pretty stunning and has a couple of really interesting features worth looking out for.

something to rival the news cafe or the ironing board? I'd love to see an all out war between the long established East Midlands Laundrette and a new upstart in the islands.

Well I have to admit, i'm impressed! Very nice studio, and a space for interviews as well.

Very good stuff! Is that background CSO or a lit picture? I can't work it out.

Nice one.

Congratulations all round.

All the timings worked perfectly and I like the more detailed weather forecast for the islands making up the junction between St Helier and Plymouth.

Nice to have island heads in the main Six news too, instead of Plymouth heads for stories we're not going to see because of the opt.
