I'm also fairly sure there was a BBC news report (i.e. dipping into the BBC News channel as Mike W said) on BBC One some time in the past year, but I can't remember the news story. I think it was during evening programmes anyway.

Not within the past 12 months, but last year:

There was one when the Metropolitan Police Commissioner resigned, but probably only because the late evening news wan't until 11pm that night (it was a Sunday)

EDIT - There were also some when the military action in Libya began. Sophie Raworth was brought in to do the first one, and Julia Somerville (the duty BBC1 presenter that day) did at least one during the evening

I seem to remember there being some BBC1 only news reports on a Saturday afternoon not too long ago - possibly those by Sophie Raworth that excel99 mentions - that were done from N9 rather than simulcasting the NC because they were being slotted in around sports coverage and it was easier to do something separate rather than try to get the timings to match.

Probably was the Libya ones as BBC1 had Six Nations coverage that night
