A couple of familiar faces returned to ITV West Country recently Matthias Kurth and Victoria Davies.

Alex Beresford was back on the ITV West Country weather for the first time in months this evening (following the recent conclusion of the Dancing On Ice live tour, apparently), to much fanfare from Kylie & Jonty.

So much for those who were so certain that he'd left West Country for good. He was juggling West Country and national/GMB duties for a long time pre-DOI, and it would now appear that he's returning to doing exactly the same?

Given the recent talk of West Country advertising for a new weather presenter, might it be that dear old Bob Crampton is retiring?

Either that or Alex's return is an interim thing (perhaps to see out a contract?) before he goes 100% national/GMB only?

Nice addition to the team, not in the league of Tomasz or Alex but an improvement on Bob

Still not been confirmed if Bob is due to depart? Or if Charles is just going to be an addition to the team of Bob, Alex and Kate. Both the latter are not at West Country full time.

In addition Rishi Davda has been presenting forecasts during GMB, quite a few different people for one region.

What has this got to do with any of the BBC/ITV regional news programmes that are based in Bristol/Plymouth/St Helier? Confused Rolling Eyes

EDIT: Also, what is this strange mixed-case word "Itv"? (Presumably pronounced "it-vuh"?)

At one point during last night's main 6pm ITV News West Country (east), a shot was used that I've not seen before.

I don't know all of the correct terminology for different camera angles/shots, but will attempt to describe it...

It was a totally symmetrically-framed/dead-centre shot, directly facing the back of the set (i.e. not even slightly angled towards either of the side walls). Both presenters therefore were equally in shot. All five "windows" (i.e. including the two side ones) were visible at the same time. IIRC the further forward parts of the side walls (with the TV screens that spend much of time displaying the programme logo) were not visible, so they were "beyond the front of your TV screen" so to speak.

Clearly some sort of wide angle lens was being used, as the surroundings had an apparent depth as if the back wall of the set was further behind the presenters than it looks to be during most shots. The whole desktop surface was visible in the bottom of shot. The front edge of the desktop was seemingly framed down-to-the-millimetre coinciding with the exact bottom edge of the shot. The wide angle lens made the desk look as if it had an excessive depth, forward of the presenters (it was like an airport runway!).

Can't decide whether I liked this shot, or not... Confused

ITV Channel TV are on the look out for a main presenter to cover maternity leave from October. There has still been no permanent replacement for Mark McQuillan. I am surprised Clare Burton, who recently joined from the BBC, isn't going to take up the helm.

Maybe it was just the main two presenter shot zoomed out?

Luke Castiglione has left Channel, might be worthwhile them opting for a single presenter format? Seems alot of changes for main faces with various reporters filling in. In absense of either Luke or Jess or both
