Former TV studios sold for £1.25m

The former Meridian TV news studios in Newbury have been sold for more than £1 Million.

The two industrial buildings at Brookway in Hambridge Road - one 7,777 square feet and the other 5,160 square feet - were converted into a studio complex 14 years ago.

The leases were surrendered by ITV PLC to its independant private landlords, clearing the way for freehold sales of the buildings at purchase prices totalling £725,000 and £430,000.

Berkshire-based Skan PA and Arrowcastings are the new owners, while Meridian is now operating out of the centralised studios at Fareham.

Can I ask, you talking about the Meridian offices on Strawberry Hill, Are they near the Bayer offices?

I haven't been watching as much news as I used to over the past few months, but it just occurred to me that I hadn't seen Stuart Norvall on South Today for an age. Has he left?
Icidentally I quite literally bumped into Steve Humphries the other day crossing the road near the BBC South studios. He was very apologetic!

If you mean the ones at Southampton, I've seen a number of familiar faces in the vacinity of the building.

I haven't seen Stuart recently. I have to wonder if he's still at BBC South.

Anyone know the status of the old Northam studios of Southern/TVS/Meridian? I last passed there in May and they were still up, Meridian sun/moon symbol on the outside still!

To complete the pciture, in case anyone's interested about the old Maidstone newsroom, it has been turned back into an anonymous industrial unit, still up for sale.

I can't believe that Meridian's news studios still don't have the right colour scheme. The background is the new one, but the lighting is still blue and white. It looks really odd the way it is at the moment. Confused

Am I right in thinking that the other regional studios have a local view as their backdrop?

Personally, I'm not a fan of the Meridian backdrop, and even more so when they turn to look at the sports presenter, or at the moniter, and the green and the blue clash spectacularly.

In fact, I don't really like much of the new look. The different segments titles are good, except they go on too long, just to fit length of the music. The main titles are good, but I don't like the logo in the box that's onscreen for the whole of the programme, Just 'Meridian News' or 'Meridian Tonight' in a green box.

Listen to me, I sound like a grumpy old man who's run out of cigars and tea!

Still, never mind,

The Meridian Report one is pretty bad for what you said, all the action happens before the main part of the jingle - I have it on video if anyone is interested.

New weather girl on tonight's MT... Phillipa something. Looks a bit like Gemma.

Wonder if she's a newcomer to the team or a freelancer. Still she did a fab job in my opinion. Smile

She was very good but I hope this doesn't mean that Gemma's left....? Sad

The South Today website previously said he was on a career break but his profile has since been removed. As has Pauline Brandt's, has she left, I don't see much of South Today these days.

Martyn Davies is back - looking tanned. Obviously been on holiday.

Philippa worked on Anglia weather for a short time last year.
