This sort of things really gets on my t*ts. We have a Mocks forum for people to post their ideas of how news channels etc should look, so why are people allowed to post completely made up presenter rotas here?

There's nothing more boring than reading through, "I think so-in-so should get the Ten, they're soooo much better than you-know-who!" TVN you haven't even bothered to say your list is a wish list rather than insider knowledge. Some-one new may think you've got this from the inside.

Yes, I'd be interested in hard facts, such as the OP's press release, but not long lists of guesses. It's pointless.

I also hate how people refer to them as "The Ten" or "The One". It really irritates me.

I personally think the BBC News presenting team is pretty weak now. I've never liked Sophie, I really can't take her seriously, don't know why. George is just patronising. Natasha isn't too bad, but she was so much better on Sky News before all the fame went to her head. Darren Jordan, I can not see how he has the high profile role he does when there are so many better than him. Huw, bores me.

The only ones I actually like, who ironically aren't full timers, are Fiona, Sian and Bill. Anna is excellent, she will be missed!

I don't think BBC newsreaders have the authority on screen that they did a few years ago. But we can blame that on the BBC's decision to put more photogenic people on TV. I cannot stand George Alagiah's condescending tone and I don't rate many of the others that highly. ITV has a similar problem, watching Alistair Stewart present the late bulletin it showed what a mistake they made in giving it to Mark Austen. Newsreaders on the main channels just don't have the gravitas anymore.

Apparently that's how everyone who works on them calls them.

Well it's fine if you work on them but people here don't!

It probably will mean that Natasha Kaplinsky will remain on the Six O'clock News. Alas.

Unless they go for a real outsider, such as Emily Maitlis? Unlikely though.

The other possibility would be Sian Williams going to the Six permanently, and then Jane Hill being the floating cover.

Congratulations to Sophie Raworth on her promotion. However, as I am kinda "old school", I have to admit to having a soft spot for Anna Ford, and see her as the last of the old original, sturdy, broadcast team of the BBC News of old (Lawley, Humphrys, Buerk, Sissons, Ford........Stuart.....)

I'd love Sian and Jane to get the Six (I really would!) but I rather doubt it as Natasha was chosen over Sian (even after she had filled in on the programme for six years and had covered Sophie's first maternity leave).

Actually it is largely based on insiders.

So perhaps it is you making the presumptions. Rolling Eyes

Personally, I think most BBC Newsreaders are pretty poor.

Bill Turnbull, Dermot Murgnahan, Anna Ford, Fiona Bruce and Simon McCoy are the only decent ones. Sian is alrite too I suppose.

Have Bill and Sian on Breakfast, Simon McCoy on at 1pm, Mike Embley and Tanya Beckett on at 6pm, and Dermot Murnaghan on at 10pm with David Eades and Fiona Bruce doing weekends... that's a line up!

I'm glad that Sophie has the One as that is where I always think she has done well, on the odd times she presents it. I would like to see Fiona Bruce be the second presenter of the One, leaving the Ten to Huw and Darren Jordon as they seem to be more suited for it. I always get the impression that Fiona is too lightweight for the Ten and still think she would be better reading the One.

I presume if George does return to reporting then Dermot Murnaghan will get the Six leaving Bill and Sian as the main Breakfast presenters. I'd anticipate the return of Susanna Reid soon so she could then move back onto the weekend Breakfast slot instead of Mishal (who will be going on maternity leave soon) and no doubt will co-present with Simon McCoy. I would also agree with someone's earlier post of bringing Jules Botfield back into the studio, though she has all but disappeared from our screens at the moment - hopefully she will be back. I would also like to see Jon Sopel present Breakfast but he is so strong on N24 it is unlikely to happen.

Just to clarify, the set changes all take place during the presenter reshuffle in April when Anna leaves doesn't it?

The BBC are changing the news sets again? I think the sets at the moment just don't seem very serious, they look more like rejects from Des and Mel.
